Cheers for the responses everyone.
Well, having played around with this a lot I think this is indeed the way it's supposed to work, as you say jur. When you do an arrangement recording, it puts the played clips into blocks into the arrangements, and if you edit one it changes all of them. So it ...

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Yep, that works. It means I have to plan this in advance, I can't just jump onto instruments as I feel like it, but at least it works. Cheers.

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
You need Session Record enabled as well (the other smaller record button).
Cheers, but that's actually the opposite of what I want to do. I want to play alongside the clips, not have my playing recorded in the clips and continually looped.
That's surely the whole point of session view - you can ...

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Strange... I did a quick test from my laptop, recording midi from the computer keyboard and tweaking parameters with the mouse, and in the mean time it was resampling correctly in an audio track
Hmm, were you playing a clip on that channel too? That's normally the issue - when doing the ...

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Yeah. I think I noticed this behavior a while back and I find it kind of frustrating that it won’t let me record myself Playing while also have a clip playing, when recording in Arrangement View.
I swear that I was able to do this in the past. But maybe I was doing something else.
It could be ...

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Weird, this should work.
Are you sure you have the Automation Record option enabled?
Cheers for the reply jur.
Yes, Automation Record is enabled. It's not just controller data, even they actual MIDI keys are ignored too.
I've been doing loads of searches and I can't find any video or example ...

Re: MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Just found out that if I record to an audio clip it works fine, I can still enter MIDI data on top of what is being played in the MIDI clip. But I have no idea why it doesn't work in the Arrangement view...??
I've also realised that in the YouTube video he's not using clips - he's copied them to ...

MIDI controller ignored when recording to Arrangement
Hi, I'm not sure if I'm doing something completely stupid here but this is driving me crazy.
If I am playing a clip on a MIDI track, I can play alongside that track with my MIDI controller - eg add new notes or change the filter cutoff etc. If I want to record that to an audio track, I click the ...

Re: Arrangement overdub
Is this ever going to get fixed? I can't believe this is still an issue, having to do a workaround for something that should be so basic.

Re: Undo doesn't remove recorded audio?
Hmm, that's a good point. I was assuming it would have its own internal pool that wasn't saved with the project.
If I do dozens of takes (which I do) why on earth would I want to keep them all?

Undo doesn't remove recorded audio?
Hi, it's taken me a little while to realise, but when I undo the recording of an audio track, it still keeps the recording in the audio pool.
Why is this? I use undo because I didn't like the recording, and I do dozens of these for every session. Now I find out the unused 'mistakes' are still there ...

Send/returns for Effects Racks
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but is there a good reason why there are no send/returns available for Effects Racks, only for Drum Racks (and I guess they'd be useful in Instrument Racks too).
I want to create self-contained effects racks that make the use of effects feeding ...

Re: Macro default settings questions/issues..
Many thanks for the response.
Ok I'll try out 10.1 and see how it's changed.
I don't really want to save a preset every time I do this, but I can see how that can be used to do what I want.
Cheers!

Macro default settings questions/issues..
I've done a load of searches and just want to be sure that what I am seeing in Ableton is correct behaviour, as it seems a bit weird to me..
If I:
- Open Operator
- Add it to an instrument rack
- Open the Macro controls panel in the rack
- Click Freq in Operator (currently at 18.5 kHz) and Map to ...
