Yep, that works. It means I have to plan this in advance, I can't just jump onto instruments as I feel like it, but at least it works. Cheers.

Yes, Automation Record is enabled. It's not just controller data, even they actual MIDI keys are ignored too.

Just found out that if I record to an audio clip it works fine, I can still enter MIDI data on top of what is being played in the MIDI clip. But I have no idea why it doesn't work in the Arrangement view...??

Hi, it's taken me a little while to realise, but when I undo the recording of an audio track, it still keeps the recording in the audio pool.

Why is this? I use undo because I didn't like the recording, and I do dozens of these for every session. Now I find out the unused 'mistakes' are still there ...

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but is there a good reason why there are no send/returns available for Effects Racks, only for Drum Racks (and I guess they'd be useful in Instrument Racks too).
