Possible to disable Live's midi stability buffer? (SBX-1)

Recently purchased a Roland SBX-1, and it has an amazing swing feature (called shuffle on the unit) that will swing any external sequencers. It's swinging my TR-606/707/727/808, TB-303, SH-101, MC-202, Elektron Rytm, along with about 10 other external sequencer devices absolutely perfectly. But Live...

Auto load of samples direct to RAM

My MacBook Pro has 8GB of ram. I think RAM nowadays is getting pretty high, and this feature is needed. When people were running live on 512mb-1GB it's understandable that this option would fill your RAM quickly. Having 8GB or more this isn't really too much to ask from your computer. The less disk ...

Re: I want Nonome/MLR.... Launchpad? or APC40?

If you have an iPad, hawtin is releasing an app similar to a launchpad. It's called Griid (yes with 2 i's). It should be released in the next few weeks. I've used the app, very briefly and it's something else! If not, I'd say LaunchPad. It seems there's a lot of cool things going on with it, especia...

Re: Snow Leopard upgrade - Safe or silly?

sudo nvram boot-args="arch=x86_64" will alter your com.apple.boot.plist to load in 64bit mode by defaut (only xserves do it by default).. I used to edit my plist file also, until I ran across this... http://www.thrull.com/corner/mac/SystemModeConfigurator/ It adds a preference pane which ...

Re: The ideal sample rate / bit depth

CD: 16/44.1
DVD: 24/48
Blu-Ray/SACD/HD-DVD/etc.. : 24/96

Archival: 24/96 or 24/192

If HD space is of no concern, it never hurts to keep everything 24/96.

Even if the benefit is minimal, why not?

FS: Korg KR-55b vintage analog drum machine

Not too sure if anyone here is interested in vintage hardware considering this is a software forum, but I figured I'd give a heads up in case there is any collectors. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260537056168&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT Pretty cool machine, but it deserve...

Re: Shout out for Allen & Heath customer support!

I mentioned the mixer is a few years old (well out of warranty) and they never asked why I wanted them. Just asked my address and sent away.

Shout out for Allen & Heath customer support!

I read a post about the sherman knob replacement, so figured I'd chime in about A&H's support. I recently did a heavy mod to my XONE:92 (fader) and needed 16 new 'xone' knob caps. I looked around online and they were $2-6 each at a few distributors. So I hit up A&H direct, to see what they c...

monophonic after touch assign issues, help?

I recently modified a dj mixer of mine with some doepfer boards. Regardless here's my issue... There are 4 potentiometers on the doepfer board. They send the following midi data: 1. pitch bend 2. modulation (MIDI controller #1) 3. volume (MIDI controller #7) 4. monophonic after touch My issue is tha...

Ableton should strip down Live for iPhone's!

I recently got an iPhone (16GB black). I've been experimenting with a lot of the beat maker, fake monome, iTM stuff.... They are all useful in certain ways, and the future looks bright. But what I've noticed is they are all 'toys' somewhat, than very useful tools. Ableton should strip down Live into...

This is great news, but with all due respect... this is coming from the mouth of a guy making money off of indy artists. A positive article is going to help promote the site, indy music, and encourage people to spend money at cd baby. A negative article would hurt the site, make people go else where...

I looked around for a spot on the site to buy a cd, mp3 or donate money but couldn't find anything.

If donating money can help fund this amazing project, I'd love to help out in some way.
