Perhaps there's a way to do this with clips? Or maybe there's some setting on the instruments? This is such a simple and necessary feature for a keyboardist. I would expect ableton to be able to pull this off, but the solution isn't obvious if there even is one.

Is there a way to have sounds such as a lead sound not respond to the sustain pedal in Ableton? While keeping a pedal response for other sounds such as a pad?

Check these out. It allows you to plug your pedal straight into your PC. I just recently bought one and I can use the software that comes with it to adjust the pedal however I like. Did your pedal come with any kind of software or firmware? If so, you should be able to change the CC value of one of the pedals in the software to separate the two.

Isn't it because your midi instrument's polyphony is set to low? Or about the "voice retriggering"? Or both? I don't think so, but I will take a look at that. I have 3 different instruments layered together on different tracks and they all flow through their own midi rack with the chords ...
