Re: insane activation policy
The problem I have with DRM is that it punishes those who go the legal/honest route. We paid hundreds for Ableton licenses, and as a result, we are the ones who will suffer the authorization pains when things go wrong. Meanwhile those who download cracked versions on torrent sites don't have to bot...

Re: OS X 10.7 Lion compatibility: Live update coming soon ?
You guys are insane if you update to Lion right away. Live would be the least of my worries. Audio interface drivers. Plug-ins. Servers for things Novation automap, touchable, griid/kapture pad etc... no way hose. my audio drivers work (motu). the plugins i use have already been updated to work wit...

Re: Can I remove stock content now we have a program only DL?
Yes I've done this on a new snow leopard installation on my laptop, since I never use presets or any of the audio content, and the program only version installs fine. Some minor content is still installed ( my guess is the presets and loops that are just new or updated for 8.1.4 ). Everything has be...

Re: 8.1.4 - king of stability?
If I just want the program without any of the presets & audio content, can I install the program only file without having a previous version installed ? (I'd try this myself but am at work atm )

Re: Solid State Drive vs 7200 rpm
When playing live its only read speeds that are important, so a SSD will work well which ever one you choose. BTW: It also sounds like you're mainly using soft synths and plugins, so the disk is not a factor in the performance of ableton live. An advantage of SSD if you do a lot of live gigs, is tha...

Re: Solid State Drive vs 7200 rpm
Without TRIM support the write times get exponentially slower, ultimately resulting in a HD slower than 7200rpm, and further. Currently OS X does not support TRIM, so buying a Mac with an SSD, or upgrading the HD to SSD with intention of acheiving faster read.write speeds, will ultimately be shorte...

Re: CRASHCRASHCRASHCRASHCRASHCRASHCRASHCRASH
I've had enough of the crashes and just random bugs with live 8 ( eg today I couldn't add new midi tracks. Had to close and reopen live, then add midi tracks started working again ). I've been a happy live user since version 6. Bought Logic 9 the other day and will see how it goes for a couple of we...

Re: REX vs WAV format
regarding sound quality theres is no difference. REX uses a proprietary file format and compression algorithm to reduce file size. an advantage REX files have is they store transient points ( or warp markers in ableton live terms ). the only advantage of WAV is that more programs can interpret/proce...

Re: Anyone using a macbook pro with a SSD for audio?
I replaced the hd in my macboook pro 13" with a 120gb ocz vertex ssd and have had no issues with it. Performance is very impressive and it handles playback of multi-tracks with no problems whatsoever.
