Warping multitracks
I’m importing stems into arrangement view that were not recorded to a click and I would like to warp them to the grid. I’m aware that in Live 11 I can either link the tracks or shift+select them to warp them together. (I’m also aware that selecting a drum track last is helpful in warping.) However, ...

Keep one track always armed when using auto-arm feature
It looks like the Arturia Keylab series doesn't auto-arm a selected track like other controllers do (Novation Launchkey, etc). To get around that, I enabled Ableton's "auto-arm selected track" feature via an entry in the options.txt file. Works great, however I'm trying to find a way to le...

Re: Free Live 11 Packs wont install on L11
Your OS is probably still associating files with the pack extension with Live 10. In Windows you can change this via Settings > Apps > Default Apps. Look for any files currently associated with 10 and point them to 11. Not sure how to do it if you’re on a Mac.

Re: Launchpad95: Instrument, Scales, Step Sequencer, Device Ctrl
I would think no, as step sequencers typically have some other function for setting velocities, whether it’s re-pressing a key to step through velocity levels, or, as with Launchpad95, a separate screen to control levels per step. I do think the script will pass velocity info if you’re playing in th...

Replacing wavs with flac in deep-sampled drum rack
I’ve been working with the Tchackpoum drum rack and due to the size (5 Gb), I’d like to convert the samples to flac. When I do this with sfz files, it’s just a matter of batch-converting the samples, then opening the .sfz in a text editor and replacing “wav” with “flac.” However, Ableton ADG files a...

Re: Latency Issues
I’ve used ASIO4ALL with a Realtek chip and got latency down low enough to record single tracks at a time. If you have lots of tracks, just do a quick mix down to one stereo track for monitoring and then turn the other tracks off to avoid dropouts while recording/monitoring. You’ll probably want to s...

Re: Latency Issues
The easiest route is to turn monitoring off on your guitar track and use your audio interface’s “direct” mode to monitor what you’re playing. You won’t hear any fx that you’ve added to your track, but this is the most foolproof way to get a latency-free recording. If you do need to hear your fx whil...

Re: Arturia Minilab 2 Midi Mapping Problems
Ableton 10 recognized my Keylab MKII out of the box, and once I set the Keylab’s DAW mode to “Live,” it worked as advertised. I’ve never tried to use it with anything other than the stock mappings.

Re: Is there a way to do multiple takes and splice them together?
It’s a more manual process in AL, however you could approximate Reaper’s workflow by recording multiple takes into their own tracks, select all tracks when making your splits, and then use the 0 key to deactivate, rather than delete, segments you don’t want to use. After editing, you can group all t...

Re: Launchpad95: Instrument, Scales, Step Sequencer, Device Ctrl
I was able to get Launchpad95 working with a MK3 mini by applying the latest firmware via the Components app. The new firmware allows you to put the MK3 into “legacy” mode (see the firmware release notes) that basically emulates a MK2 or older Launchpad. However, you lose some of the features unique...

Re: Identifying VSTs as 32-bit or 64-bit
When you install Jbridge, you have to run the program, tell it what folder your plugins are in, and let it make bridged copies of your 32-bit VST's in a new folder. When you do this, it will automatically detect which of your plugins are 32-bit, making it a good way to sort those out. There should b...

Re: Identifying VSTs as 32-bit or 64-bit
Joe, if you use Jbridge you can point it at your VST folder and click “map only 32 bit plugins” then specify a new folder for it to place those mappings. When it’s finished, the new folder will contain only your 32 bit VST’s and you can then use that list to separate out the 32 bitters in your main ...
