You can use any emoticon in Locator names (and elsewhere) .

Right-click to rename the Locator then hit Win+. (Windows key and period) to open the icon list. Not sure how this works on Mac.

I contacted the support team as promised and they told me that this is a known bug that will we fixed in the future. They couldn't say when, though.

I'm with Robert on that one! I find it really annoying and weird that Live behaves in that way... Also I don't see any benefits of this behaviour.
