maybe consider using a decent cheap mixer and firewire soundcard as well. i've just got my hands on a soundcraft compact4 and the routing is VERY flexible and you have actual knobs for everything, and of course you have zero latency. might work out cheaper too, as you could save some money over buyi...

interesting about the rme ben. i might have to look at trying one to see if i can get low enough latency for close to realtime processing of the audio stream then. i've just tried messing with the quatafire and using the latest version asio4all driver with it. i'm currently listening to some stuff l...

thanks for the reply adam, but i'm not sure w're talking about the same thing. i can run my internal soundcard as low as 2ms (64 samples) using asio4all, but the overall recording latency when i do the hardware test and connect a lead from an output to an input and record through it comes out as 30m...

What soundcard has the lowest overall latency?

i've been attempting to mess with the audio from a dj i work with in real time, and now realise that the overall latency (ie total time from in to out - look in the manual, you can test it using a lead from the hardware output to the input) of 30ms i'm getting with my quatafire 610 is too much of a ...

the alesis multimixers are coming out in firewire apparently, and it seems that you will be able to route each channel separately in to the computer and have a stereo out from the computer. afaik this hasn't been officially confirmed in the specs yet so wait and see might be the best advice on that....

i think your right about the shift key daniel. the midi channel selection option sound like as good an option as the fader fox setup. from what i've read about those units you turn a knob and it changes the track and all the button assignments. sorry if i didn't explain it clearly. i doubt it was do...

the faderfox track control stuff sounds really handy. i was using daniels plugin last night for the first time in a rehearsal and that was probably the only thing i thought it lacked. to trigger things i still need a button for each track, or only use scenes. is it possbile to incorporate this danie...
