Sounds maybe like you're experiencing some issues with your buffer settings.
Experiment a bit with the settings.
Open preferences (CMD+,) find the audio tab - try to set your sample rate to 44.1khz, and experiment a bit with your buffer

Render time Windows vs Mac
I just recently went from using Live on a Macbook Pro mid 2012 with a dual core i5, to a windows based Dell XPS 17 with i7 hexacore. I have a project that I've been trying on both machines, and I've noticed that the render time on the newest windows based is much slower then on the 8 year old macboo...

Coming from OSX/Mac, having a dedicated internal low latency soundcard is really essential for using Live on the go.
