maybe I’m misunderstanding, but I think there are a couple of ways to manage. you could set your loop points for the 5 beats, record until you’re happy, then do the same for the 3 beat portion. or you could record the full 8 beats and split the clip at beat 5.

clicking the stop button will take you back to the start. you can map a key to that to take you back to the beginning of the project.
