Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
this sounds like a depressing way to live–having to spend that much time in any manual for any software sounds absolutely awful. learning a system sufficiently should take care of that. if not, probably not the best software to be using.

Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
it's a weird, silly decision, and frustrating, but stomping one's feet and acting like that's a good reason to switch DAWs is even dumber, imo.

Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
I agree it seems like an oversight. I’m mostly puzzled by the folks who are considering ditching Live altogether because of it. it’s one thing to be disappointed and inconvenienced by it, but it seems a very strange hill to choose to die on. but hey, different strokes for different folks and all tha...

Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
I mean, I get the desire for a PDF and searchable manual, but it's pretty weird to be looking at switching to another piece of software based solely (or primarily) on that. like, once you learn it, you shouldn't need to refer to the manual so often in the first place. and physically-printed manuals ...

Re: Group Recording in Session View
what would be the benefit of doing it that way? one less track in the session? I suspect the potential downsides of using a group track (meant for live audio processing) to handle both live audio *and* recorded audio would outweigh the upside of a single less track. I'm not certain, but I'd guess th...

maybe a screenshot would help us to see how you’ve got things set up. often a visual is helpful.

Re: Looking for a Drum-Kit
if you’re looking for realistic sounding drum kits, you might check out Addictive Drums or EZDrummer. not sure what the current pricing is like, but I know at least AD goes on sale fairly regularly and the base cost is like $170. there are plenty of other options out there, but I’ve used AD for year...

Re: Should I get an ultrawide monitor?
I had one and it was good, but not really better or worse than a normal monitor. imo, the best option is always the one with the largest surface area you can afford (and that fits into your setup). I use a 4k TV now, because it’s way more affordable for a large screen than a comparably-sized compute...

Re: Multiple instances of envelope follower going to a single parameter
Good shout. Thanks. Problem with that is having tons of breakbeats, some with kicks, in amongst drum racks. Is there a way to send individual sounds from a drum rack to a send? I don't think there is tbh. there is. oddly enough, I was yesterday years old when I learned that, with this vid: https://...

Re: Advice on mic purchase for Push 3 recording ?
waiting really is the hardest part! 😅 good point—sometimes these dynamic mics don’t have levels quite as hot as we’d like. if you have access to a 57 or 58 (or any other mic, actually) you could try it out to see if it suits your needs before buying one yourself. I find that gear opinions are often ...

Re: Advice on mic purchase for Push 3 recording ?
you can’t go wrong with a good old SM57 or SM58. there’s a reason they’re industry standard workhorse mics. and they won’t break the bank. have fun! I have my Push 3 coming today too—very excited, although I’m mostly getting it for the tight transport integration. the MPE stuff will be very fun to p...

Push 3 questions
I'm considering purchasing a Push 3, mainly to use as a controller for Ableton, and have some questions on functionality... - do the transport controls work even when Ableton doesn't have focus? (e.g. if I have OneNote up to keep track of lyrics, can I still start, stop, record, and undo in Ableton ...

Re: Time signature duplication
You can do this using duplicate or cut time. Why no copy time, I can't say. But if you need to paste somewhere else, cut then paste it right back so you don't lose it, then put the insert marker where you want to put the copied time, then paste again. There may be other ways, but I'm not aware of t...

Re: Scale awareness on/off ?
but, the state shown in the toolbar is reflective of all selected clips yes, but it's a bit of a red herring here. the issue is that this on/off can neither be controlled for the set, nor for the individual clips. that's kind of my point--there's no such thing as a global scale at the 'set' level, ...
