I had this problem too. My Laptop has two Display Adapters/Graphic cards (Intel HD Graphics 3000 and a NVIDIA NVS 4200M).
I solved the problem by disabling the NVIDIA graphics card when I use Ableton...its not a nice fix but it works fine for me...
