Hi I have realised that when I consolidate my clips to get them all to a standard length (Arr' view) etc, Ableton messes with the clip gain values for some reason. I assume it is something to do with it 'normalising' the clips (I see that in the manual). I dont want that to happen, I want to decide ...

Thanks for that. It sure sounds promising! If that works it will be way quicker and easier than having to create a bar-by-bar tempo map first (which I do in S1).

I currently use Studio 1 to prepare and mix the stems we use for our tracks, then load the prepared stems into Ableton for live playback. Did anybody get a resolution to this? I am getting it all the time and it is killing my session. I have a lot of tracks loaded and it takes AGES to complete each time it happens and whilst it is happening all I get is the spinning wheel of doom (MacBook Pro)
