Re: Expensive update
Many people have no idea how complicated a somewhat more complex software project is. What is involved. How many people are involved, all of whom want to be paid. A DAW like Ableton is a quite complex program. It consists of many components, all of which not only have to be developed individually an...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
What is the mysterious AVX instruction set everybody talks about nowadays? Basically it's a set of instructions that programmers can use that allow a CPU to process vectorizable calculations really fast. AVX is an CPU extension that allows a quite drastic speed up in certain floating point operation...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
It's almost impossible to believe that they did not know ahead of release that this would happen. It's much more likely that they had a pretty good estimate of how many customers would be impacted, since they have all the registrations, and still made the decision to go ahead with the minimum requi...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
I have just done a trawl of the archived Ableton.com webpages on the Internet Archive website. The Windows System Requirements are listed under the Shop page. At no point during the pre-order period was the AVX2 requirement mentioned. Even on the snapshot of March 5th, the release date, there was n...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
This from Andertons Music, Surrey UK website today listing system requirements for Live 12: Processor: - Mac: Intel Core i5 or later, or Apple Silicon - Windows: 5th Generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Multi-Core Processor. No mention of AVX2 But this must have been known some time before the release d...

Re: Pressing Stop Button resets the global scale
I just checked it and cannot confirm this strange behaviour.
It doesn't happen when I press the Stop button with the mouse within Ableton nor when I map this button to my midi controller and press it from here.

Re: Windows - Uninstalling Live 11
@cids, thanks for the link. This will help if you want to get rid of Ableton completly. But this isn't what I want. What I want is to get rid of one of the two Ableton installations I have on my computer. What happens to the second Ableton instance when I uninstall the first one? When a shared dll o...

Windows - Uninstalling Live 11
Hello dear music lovers. Since Live 12 is running without any problems, I plan to completely uninstall Live 11. Live 11 was installed on my Windows C: partition. Since I am running slowly out of space there, I have installed L12 on another partition with a lot of free space. Everything is running fi...

Re: AVX2 with some 4th generation chips...
My CPU (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @ 3.30GHz), which too is a 4. gen processor, also supports the AVX2 instruction set. 2 days ago I installed Live 12 without any problems. So far I made some tests with different plugins and so on. No problems at all. While the "similarity scanning" was...

Re: Is There Anything for Me in Ableton 12??
What kind of answer do you expect? Would you like someone to list the new features of L12 point by point and comment on how useful they find them? Since you've already watched a bunch of videos about the new release, you know what to expect and can decide whether the new features are worth your mone...

Re: Live 12 won't launch
On Windows you need to be using a CPU that is a 5th gen Core i5 or higher now, this is new from Live 11: Windows 10 (version 22H2) or Windows 11 (version 22H2 or higher) 5th generation Intel® Core™ i5 processor or AMD Ryzen processor (CPU supports AVX2 instruction set) . . . Hmm strange, the datash...

Re: Ableton Live 12 Release
I know it's an almost impossible task.
A list of incompatible devices would be highly desirable so that you don't have to install L12 only to discover that some M4L devices that you care about or even need no longer work.
