OK, I'll try that.
I don't see how it can be used to create drum tracks yet but at least that gets me off first base.
Thanks

Do I need external hardware to use Midi with Live?
I'm getting up to speed with Audio tracks but I'm unable to get any sound out of the midi tracks. I'd like to start working with percussion but all the best stuff seems to be in Midi. Do I need to buy a Midi controller, or does Live have a way to work with Midi without adding hardware? The info view...

Re: How can I change part of a track while leaving the rest unchanged?
slow.robot: In clip view, I'm using the field just below the track number on the far right. It allows you to increase volume by 6dB or attenuate it by up to 6dB. I can also do it using a graphic EQ plugin if I have to. fishmonkey: Can you give me the name of a Utility device that might automate volu...

How can I change part of a track while leaving the rest unchanged?
There has to be a way to select part of a track, and modify just what you selected. I just can't figure out how. I have a vocal mistake that I've fixed by recording over on a different track then pasting the result over just that bit of the original track. Trouble is it's a bit louder, and I'd like ...

How to get a Pop! out of a vocal track. Also, Tascam Model 12 problem
I made a great vocal track, but there was this loud Pop in the middle of it. With any other DAW I would select that part of the track, and EQ and attenuate it until it almost disappeared. I couldn't figure out how to do that though; any changes made to the track have to be made to the whole thing, w...

Can I edit (attenuate) selected parts of an audio track?
I have a great vocal track but it has a couple of places where it is overdriving something and I need to attenuate just those places. It seems self evident that I should be able to select those places and apply a change to just the selected area, but Ableton doesn't seem to work that way, unless I a...

Re: Do I need a different DAW. How do you do acoustic post production and remix?
You’re definitely right that the clips are doing things that would be considered unpredictable from the perspective of one who isn’t fully informed. That seems backwards to me. I believe that the default should be "change nothing until I configure it to do so". And that seems to be the wa...

Re: Do I need a different DAW. How do you do acoustic post production and remix?
I seriously doubt they would find any of these other DAW easier to understand than Live... I've tried several. They all have seem to be designed for people who process the $%#! out of their music. I just want to do what I used to do with an analog 4-track reel-to-reel machine and a DAT to master to...

Re: Are there some setting(s) that tell Ableton to NOT modify my files?
When I import .WAV files it modifies the heck out of them. It changes the timing and it erases the quiet part at the beginning where I whisper "a one, a two a three, a four..." then start playing. I would like it to quit doing that and import it with the exact same timing and start points....

Are there some setting(s) that tell Ableton to NOT modify my files?
I'm looking for a global setting or group of settings to instruct Ableton to *leave my sound alone* and not process the pitch, timing, or anything else unless I specifically ask it to. All I want to do is stack a bunch of acoustic tracks, put on a bit of EQ and (maybe) a slight echo... that's all. (...

Re: Import changes the timing of .WAV files
It changes the clip as soon as I drag it in or import it. However, I was able to drag it to the where the vocals started and stretch it to restore the original timing. I'm still missing the cueing sounds (ah one, ah two ah three ah four) which it clips, but I can copy that from the original vocal tr...

Import changes the timing of .WAV files
When I export a single track as a WAV file, open it in another application, modify it and re import it, the timing is different and the starting point is eccentric; it does not start where I exported it. It also sometimes (but not always) truncates the cueing space, which has very faint sounds at th...

Re: Do I need a different DAW. How do you do acoustic post production and remix?
Unless the Q on those parametric-type filters is adjustable, the filters are far too broad for my voice. A slight boost at 1.6k that extends from 1k to 2.2k doesn't do what my vocal coach had in mind. Workaround: Export track to .wav. Import .wav to Audacity. Eq as required (nice tight Q on their gr...

Do I need a different DAW. How do you do acoustic post production and remix?
How do i assign tracks to partially or totally left or right? How do I eq them with Ableton Live Lite (no EQ 8 available Eq 3 isn't cutting it). Do I really need to find a different DAW, or do I just need to learn more about this one, and if so, where do I find out? Is a graphic EQ plugin a reasonab...
