Re: Another reference manual inaccuracy

Operator works like the manual says, which is a relatively simple explanation, the user manual simply is not that detailed. Which IMO is perfectly fine, as I don't think a user manual is supposed to be as detailed and exact as you want it. They are not technical specs, they won't tell you how stuff...

Re: Another reference manual inaccuracy

Loop Mode - Loop: Actual level will be Sustain level by definition since it retriggers in the end of Decay phase. The "unspecified curve" is the Loop Time, which is visible to the right of the Loop Mode drop-down menu (defaults to 100 ms I think). Loop Mode - Beat: It will restart from cu...

Another reference manual inaccuracy

In the section of Operator, in the passages regarding envelopes: “Note: To avoid the audible clicks caused by restarting from its initial level, a looped envelope will restart from its actual level and move with the set attack rate to peak level.” This is inaccurate. The looping envelope will follow...

Analog glide const/prop settings swapped?

When I use the const and proportional glide settings on analog, it seems to my ears that they are mislabeled; in const mode, I notice a longer glide time between distant notes than for notes of closer intervals using a fixed glide percentage for both determinations. For a fixed interval, the const s...

well said. what a waist of time the OP was.
Now it all makes sense! It was clear to you likely for the same reason you can’t properly distinguish “waist” and “waste.”

Re: Misnomer in Ableton manual: fact sheet

OP's posted about this in multiple places, and no one was actually confused by Live's manual, people were confused by OP's statements. I was confused by it, so you’re statement is incorrect that ‘no one’ was confused by it. Also, yes: I requested help in several forums for varied responses- I’m not...

Re: Nonsensical passage in Ableton manual: fact sheet

you are wrong in saying the manual is nonsensical. It just gives an option to use a utility device to compensate for increase decibel levels, that's all. its very clear. you reread it! In that case, can you please explain the mechanism by which a stereo image collapsed to mono would in any way affe...

Re: Nonsensical passage in Ableton manual: fact sheet

they are referring to the Utility device , you use the stereo width control in conjunction with hard panning as a sort of solution to the increase in decibels levels. its not nonsensical at all. its worded perfectly. Please reread with my edit. You’re incorrect, however: even mono tracks will be bo...

Misnomer in Ableton manual: fact sheet

The following passage appears in the Live manual, in the fact sheet: “Live uses constant power panning with sinusoidal gain curves. Output is 0 dB at the center position and signals panned fully left or right will be increased by +3 dB. In order to minimize this volume change, it may be helpful to n...

Re: ANOTHER huge reference manual fallacy

The manual is correct, I just tested multiple times with dozens of settings. Sounds like you don't understand how most meters in audio measure an average, for example RMS is roughly 300 ms, so it won't show fluctuations shorter than 300 ms well. Spectrum clearly shows Refresh takes 60 ms (in the de...

ANOTHER huge reference manual fallacy

For several manual sections regarding Simpler and Sampler envelope loop modes, something along the lines of (here, from pg. 578, first line): “For Best and Sync modes, if a note is still held after the amount set in the Rate slider, the envelope will restart from its initial value” is written. The i...

Sampler Volume Envelope Beat/sync bugs

In Live 11.2.6 (Suite), in Sampler, the volume envelope in the Global tab does not have functional beat or sync modes for the envelope loop modes- they are completely dysfunctional and result in the same behavior as “none.”

Simpler vs Sampler and warp

It seems the biggest advantage of Simpler over Sampler is that the former allows warping of imported samples (slice mode is also a feature unique to Simpler, but I suppose it can be categorized loosely as a quasi warp-related function). Are there any unilateral Simpler advantages I’m missing?
