Re: Can Live be used for jazz/blues style improv?

This person did a video based on using random Chance with individual notes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icg8Hf9e9rc Wow - that was interesting! Not at all what I expect people to do with Live. I'll have to watch it more carefully to pick up some of the techniques that he blew by kind of quickly...

Re: Can Live be used for jazz/blues style improv?

Live doesn't care about the type of music you're making  What you're describing is actually one of the most common use case. Ha ha! - Yes, I'd be pretty surprised to see a pop-up warning saying, "Live has detected that you are playing bluegrass. That is not allowed. Please stop." :w...

Re: newbie question: looping one audio track while recording another

Thanks again - you were right on both counts. I was recording in the arrangement view, not the session view, and also I had missed the link to the manual section in your reply. Once I reread that I was able to get it to do what I'd been trying, even though I'm still not understanding exactly what's ...

Can Live be used for jazz/blues style improv?

I'd like to use Live to record demos of jazz/blues style tracks, but I'm not sure if that's too different from the styles it's typically used for to work. I posted a more specific question about this here: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=246246 , but I thought it might help to ask ...

Re: newbie question: looping one audio track while recording another

Thanks, @pottering - I kind of thought that was what I was doing, but I must be missing something. In your step 2, you say that Live loops recorded clips by default - I didn't find that. After recording Track 2 (assuming Track 1 is for the MIDI drum clip), if I then start to record Track 3, Track 2 ...

newbie question: looping one audio track while recording another

I'm just starting out with Live, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to do something that seems kind of simple. I'd like to record a short audio backing track and then to use it as a looped clip while I record another part over it. Here is the work flow I'm picturing: 1. Create a one-measure MID...
