FYI In 12 it only seems to work for me when using the VST3 version of Maschine and not the VST2 version


Interesting, neither VST2 or 3 work for me. I can however drag from standalone versions of Maschine2/3 or ADD2. I have a support ticket with Ableton for this too, they took it as a bug ...

So.. no one uses VSTs that have clips that you can drag out? haha

This works in Live11, I filed a bug for Live12 beta, they took it... Totally bizarre that this regression made it into Live12, such a common functionality across many DAWs.

Just confirmed this is happening on multiple machines. My main studio computer (Windows 10) and my laptop (Windows 11).

Hmm,,, anyone know what's happening here? It's driving me crazy.

The only thing I can find when trying to search this problem is about running Live as admin (Windows 10), but this is really for dragging and dropping from Windows file explorer into Live (which doesn't work if running as admin, or sometimes the other way around), which is not the issue.

Just noticed that when I load up Addictive Drums 2 in Live12, I can't drag the beats (midi clips) from the VST interface into the arranger or clip view? It works in Live11. Did something change?

And/Or (as you said) just let us configure transport controls per controller device in Ableton, however not holding my breath here, takes Ableton forever to implement anything (from what I have seen), especially edge cases like these.

Ah man, totally feeling this pain with my Kontrol mk3, it's maddening to have to remember to hit shift+play to get it to play from the play head and all the other weird behaviors noted by others here.

Try Komplete Kontrol... it's horribly slow to come back with the wrench. :(

Also, I notice that the keyboard shortcut only works when you've opened it with the wrench, if you click the wrench again to close it, the keyboard shortcut no longer works until you click the wrench again.
