It's not normal for dedicated ASIO drivers designed by the interface manufacturer, I'm able to play music alongside my DAW using Tascam Model 12.
The problem might be you using ASIO4ALL. Download a driver for your interface and it should work.

Alternatively use Velocity MIDI effect

Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding.. ypu don't put scale on track, you put scale inside clip. Maybe stopping on a different track selects different clip, maybe with disabled scale resulting in default C Major greyed out?

For the bar count in clips, the workaround for you could be to have clips start at the very beginning of the arrangement. The. The time would reflect global timeline.

It boots faster is all I can say about it. My sets are generaly very light with 90% native devices
