Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
Here's a fun one from someone who has both maschine and push... Set up two midi tracks. Place Maschine on one track, load a kit, set the sounds (not scenes) to midi notes, and note the root note of the kit. Place a drum rack (empty or whatever) in the other midi track. For the track with Maschine, u...

Re: Thoughts on Push by those who have it now?
Umm, got my push a few days ago, and I feel like I've actually gone through and pushed all the buttons, turned all the knobs... I love the thing. I love it not for the session integration (Launchpad or APC have that handled for the most part), but for the compositional workflow awesomeness. The scal...

Hey, here's a few (ok, 6) cents from me, being 40 and having spent 4 years out of corporate IT in order to pursue my dream of making music for a living... 1. The story of Siddhartha is relevant, in that a life in pursuit of knowledge does not necessarily come with anything resembling success in the ...

I'm a long time Network Administrator and have never really had an interest in programming, but that being said, I've learned so much with immediate results by working with Arduinos! It let's you see how the programming iteration works, with immediate visual and tactile interaction via the microproc...

Re: Activate IN & Auto Toggle? APC remapped, Master Rec Needed.
What if you put something like:
http://hgsounds.com/product/hgs-wav-rec ... st-plugin/
(I searched for "free vst recorder" on google.
On a track, set input to master (or resample), set monitor to IN, set track output to sends only.

Re: Hard Disk Overload frustration
I think BlackMath is right in the sense that you need to move your cache around and figure out which piece is causing the dropouts. Can you replicate the issue on command? Does it only happen when things are banging on stage? I had an eerily similar issue with my macbook when used in conjunction wit...

Re: Why always 120 BPM?
OK, what's your global quantization set to? What's the clip launch setting? Also, is the clip quantization set to global?
Ableton does what you describe on my computer, but I never have problems with clips playing in sync..

Re: Why always 120 BPM?
Ack. Midi clips have no fixed sample rate for the events to relate to in terms of bpm. What matters is how the notes relate to the lines in the clip editor. If you get your midi clip all fixed up, and everything's working, and then save the project, then reopen, and look at the clip (and play it bac...

Re: equal power fade
I think the way to get what your after is using the chain select "ruler" in the rack. You can map the chain selector to a macro, and create a crossfade in whatever configuration you want. Here's a pic, though it isn't really setup to do what you describe: http://www.google.com/imgres?q=abl...

Re: Why always 120 BPM?
I think that the number in that box is not relevant to the project. There has to be a number in the box, (any number really, who can say why they chose 120...) The reason for the box is this: If you record some midi into a clip without a click, you can then use your mouse and this number box to adju...

Re: Don't Buy A Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid Drive!!!
Hi guys. I have the momentus XT. I was having problems, and upgraded to the later firmware. This helped but did not resolve the issue. What wound up working for me (and now this thing rocks, and has been for 8 or 9 months) was disabling the onboard Sudden Motion Sensor. It turns out that having two ...

I am a Windows SysAdmin, so I use windows on a professional basis. Certainly in terms of software flexibility, I think Windows is the winner. Over the years, I've owned both for audio performance and production. I used Windows laptops for a while, then I switched to a powerbook right at the end of t...

Re: Warp for MIDI
Wow guys! I had never figured out the orig bpm thing! I have struggled with freestyling midi into Ableton since the beginning, and had no idea this existed. I agree that using the standard warping conventions would be preferable, but nonetheless, this will be a huge help! Thanks for this awesome ran...

Problems with Live.Remote
Hi guys. I'm kinda new to M4L so maybe this is just me being dumb. I find that whenever I try to make use of Live.Remote, I get invalid syntax messages in the Max window. I try to load the Max Api SendsPan example, and get the same errors. This is an otherwise empty project... Am I missing something...
