Keystation Pro 88 + Live

Use the Enigma program on your computer to create a preset for the KSP88 and then send the presets to the keyboard with the program. This preset that you create should assign an individual cc# to each fader, knob, and button. Use this preset everytime you use Ableton and you'll never have to fool wi...

Drum Kit From Hell I believe also comes with excellent selection of MIDI files (in addition to) but I don't own that baby ... yet. There are no standard MIDI patterns distributed with Drum Kit From Hell Superior. There are a few demo MIDI files to listen to the various preset kits but no patterns. ...

VSTi - MIDI Out support would be "excellent"

There were too many "excellents" in my last post, I apologize to the scrutinous readers and grammar majors. I have routinely found myself using Nuendo to record the MIDI patterns from the GM output of the Groove Agent and bringing them into Live as a MIDI file. The MIDI editing of Live is ...

FEATURE REQUEST: MIDI Out from VSTi's

energy XT is a nice product but not very intuitive. I hope that Ableton considers this an important feature to add. It sure would make drum programming easier with the Groove Agent's excellent patterns and the excellent sounds of Drumkit from Hell or similar VSTi's.

what if you use energy xt, will that allow you to use groove agent in Live properly? I just looked into this program and found many fanatical users at the kvr-vst forum . There are a number of people on the forum using it with Live and also using it as a standalone app. It does appear that energy x...

Yeah, so far those are my only complaints. I guess you could host GA inside Plouge Bidule or whatever and send the midi out into Live that way, but this is too much of a pain in the ass for me to do on a regular basis. As far as the "fill" automation goes, I really have no explaination. M...

re: is adding RAM worth it?

This post used to contain a terrific deal on PC2700 SODIMM 1GB chips. Now it is merely a waste of space.

EQ4 vs. EQ3 to save CPU cycles

Intersting. I haven't seen this mentioned before. Why would this be?

real-time loops with VSTi MIDI?

Is it possible to record MIDI notes for a VSTi and then loop their playback without stopping the beat real-time? I wanted to be specific about this technique because it seems this isn't exactly what is being discussed here and I haven't figured any way to do it.

I briefly tried it in a music store, and they keys felt very cheap compared to my SL-880. Considering how cheap you can get the SL-880 in many places, I'd rather get a SL-880 plus a UC-33 than the M-Audio. I've thought about this after purchasing the KsP88 and decided against returning it. Controll...

Always check "Hot Deal" websites like fatwallet and the anandtech forums before purchasing a new computer. Another favorite place to search laptop results online is the DUC's forum topic about "Best Laptops for PTLE" (may take a while to load, this is every post). Popular machine...

I had numerous people/musicians approach me after last Saturdays gig asking me about LIVE. I bet a few of them went home to purchase or at least try it. I had about 20 people come up and ask me about the program, USB controller, laptop, speakers, everything. It does sound amazing, I couldn't believ...

Ok, I played a 4-hour gig tonight with a DJ and Live 4.0.1 responded perfectly. I was using the same plug-ins and audio files and it seemed to hold up. I did close all non-critical processes via the Task Manager before opening Live. Seems to be looking up - VSTi's and Live is a killer combination! I...

I am successfully running the following VSTi's:

Steinberg The Grand
Steinberg Groove Agent
Spectrasonics Trilogy
NI B4
Edirol Orchestral
IK Multimedia Amplitube
Novation V-Station

Not at the same time, mind you...my laptop doesn't want to hang.
