get a cheap USB keyboard where all the buttons are perfect squares. they make them for POS stations in stores. its not rare at all. or get some kind of video game controller.

use an eq on the individual tracks to get them to sit together better. remove competing frequencies from one or the other. then on the bus you can apply an overall effect of you choice to achieve a more powerful sound.

the wall of sound technique doesn't have anything to do with over limiting or compression. it's phil spectors technique of layering and layering and layering until the individual instruments become one new sound. double the bass with a piano and a cello, layer the guitars with an organ and ten singe...

very nice. the point being that now when im working on a 40 some track session i can group all 10 percussion tracks into one thing that doesn't take over my mixer. im also pretty sure that it's not using that much DSP. i mean it's not doing anything except routing audio in and out, right?

i just rediscovered fastFX for reaktor in the electronic instruments v2. Im using it on halloween, it should be awesome. also i made a 1 knob filter in reaktor thats smoother than the one in the liveracks forum. it took about 2 mins and works like a charm.

i use one of those USB game pad things for your left hand with all the buttons and scenes and hat switches and stuff. very handy.
