In case anyone didn't know--the Digidesign Protools file package has additional audio files that didn't make it into the final mix. You can import them into Live just like any other audio.

Anyone notice that the lead vocals don't show up in the file browser? They only appear in the song itself. Odd.

I think you need to have a look at the ensemble's structure view in Reaktor. You'll need to alter the internal wiring of the ensemble for multiple audio outputs.

Much thanks! One of Live's biggest selling points (at least for me) is its elegant, uncluttered GUI.

Should demo instruments be removable?

When ableton offers demo versions of optional instruments in the future, do you think Live users should be able to remove the demo from the instrument menu if they decide not to buy it? Or is this not a big deal and something we should all just get used to?

Removeable Operator Demo

I don't at all mind a demo version of Operator in Live--it certainly makes sense from a marketing perspective--but it would be nice if non-purchasers could remove it from the instrument menu. As it is, it feels like ransomware.

If you want to use Live to trigger your synths with MIDI, you'll need to upgrade to Live 4, which supports MIDI.

You'll also need a MIDI interface to connect your keyboard and your computer.

Nothing will prevent you from playing your external instruments or Live's internal instruments (Impulse and ...

The VAIOs are great, but they come with a lot of software pre-installed, which I consider unnecessary clutter. Macs make great DAWs, but you'll pay a great deal for the same level of performance you can get with a carefully selected PC. Live is also far more efficient on PC. I would lean towards ...

OT: Warp Catalogue is Online

Since there seem to be a lot of experimental electronic music fans (and creators!) around here, I don't think this is too far off topic: you can now purchase MP3s of virtually all of Warp Records' back catalog. So if you want that ultra-hard-to-find AFX 12"...

please search the forums (plural) before flogging this totally dead horse of a thread. Go buy traktor if you want mp3s (or download for free like you did with all of the mp3s). Buy Live if you want to do some serious audio. Live stance on mp3's has been stated numerous time--within the parameters ...

There's nothing in Live2 Power! that won't apply to Live 3. The book has good tips and tricks, but the bulk of it is stuff you can get from reading the manual.

Yeah, I have no doubt it's great, but I'm trying to be a little more disciplined about spending. At this point, I know I haven't been using Live 2 to its full capabilities.

User Managed Authorizations

I've noticed that Native Instruments is trying this out, and it sounds like a good idea: Users can go to their registration page, deactivate an old authorization in order to free up a new authorization. The one catch is that a deactivated authorization (for a specific hardware configuration) may ...
