@ oddeo : first you have to go to your personalised update page, there you see different options for upgrading for your licence, e.g. to suite, to download, boxed etc then you have to put your upgrade live 7 suite to live 8 suite, which should amount to zero dollars (or euros) in your shopping cart,...

i upgraded to live 7 suite 5 weeks ago hence qualifying for the free upgrade to live 8 suite. downloaded it today and activation was no problem at all, everything works...

i spoke to a rep a few weeks ago, and he said they would still have academic versions BUT! no more academic upgrades... for example if you buy 8 academic, when 9 comes out if you want to upgrade you'll have to buy 9 at the full academic price. WHICH sucks ...well, of course the way to upgrade from ...

ah, ok, thank you. that makes sense somehow. so, obviously for live7 to live 7 suite there is still an education-pricing available, whereas it seems, that from live 7 edu to live 8 they cancelled the possibility of discounted upgrades completely, right ?

froschfinger, did they tell you a price for this upgrade ? when i go into my personal prices for upgrades, they tell me that in the moment the upgrade from my live7-license to live 7 suite would be 289 €. which is only 10 € cheaper than when i wait for the release of live 8 and then upgrade to live ...
