Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
After loads of research and testing down the sync rabbit hole, I (just last night) found that the Ableton manual is incorrect about setting up audio interfaces. I notified support through an open ticket The error is here: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/211476789-Setting-up-an-Audio-Inter...

Re: External Instrument/FX Hardware Latency Delay working opposite of how it should
For anyone interested - The solution is that the input and output audio devices must be the same device, otherwise you get varying amounts of latency. Aggregate audio is the solution here, not the problem, so long as you pick the exact same aggregate device for both input and output. If you use diff...

Re: External Instrument/FX Hardware Latency Delay working opposite of how it should
I had Chat GPT write a rap about the issue. Couldn't help but share: (Verse 1) I like tight clocks and I cannot lie Syncing beats so precise, you can't deny From the TR-08 to the TR-09 Even the TR-06 keeps the rhythm fine TR-8S, 808, and the 909 Casio RZ-1, we got them online When it comes to drum m...

Re: External Instrument/FX Hardware Latency Delay working opposite of how it should
I learned that Live doesn't delay compensate MIDI clocks or MIDI delay in its overall PDC calculation! Someone created a Max device that seems to be doing the job, called "Clock". https://nukemodular.gumroad.com/l/qjpEU I'm still testing it out but so far seems to work. It's fine for the B...

External Instrument/FX Hardware Latency Delay working opposite of how it should
Mac M1, latest version of OS and Live. The Hardware Latency setting in the devices is making the latency longer, not shorter. I did the same as this Ableton instructor https://youtu.be/2ONL4ZWgy7E?t=308 but am not having the same result. One MIDI track has an external instrument or fx control (I've ...

Korg MS-20ic Modulation & Enbvelope Generator LEDs
I recently bought an old Korg MS-20ic controller. So far it works great with Ableton except that I only ever got the LED's to work with the iPad version of the MS-20 software, never the plugin versions. I'd love to see them flash in sync, like with the iPad version. I do have Remote enabled in Live'...

Re: Thought's on Ableton's Sampler (vs kontakt and others)
Sampler is great. And if you already know how to get creative with racks and chains and macro knobs in Live, even more so. If not, take some time to learn about them. They really help make Sampler shine. Example: Using Samplers inside a drumrack. An Instrument Rack that includes a couple instances o...

Re: 9.1.4b1 Release Notes - VST PDC Issue
Hello, We saw issues with timed effect, such as delays, gates & stutter effects etc that would be out of time all depending on how long the plugin chain was, but only on AUX return channels and only with certain plugins. We plan on a fairly short beta phase for this hotfix so you would help us ...

Re: VST3 Support!
My audio interface, the Steinberg UR824, comes with only VST3 plugins, so the point kind off keeps standing. Yes, this is still true of course. However, I think also Steinberg have a little something to do with the adoption rate of vst3 plugins. The SDK and docs are all here: http://www.steinberg.n...

Re: Using loops in your productions
In Preferences -> Record/Warp/Launch tab make sure to de-select “Create Fades on Clip Edges." By default, a 4 ms fade happens on your audio clips, otherwise. You can manually adjust them for individual clips, if you need to.

9.1.4b1 Release Notes - VST PDC Issue
"Auxiliary audio outputs of certain VST plug-ins would not be delay-compensated anymore."
Anyone have specific details about this for 9.1.3? I don't see any more detail on the Beta forum.
It sounds like a good reason to be working exclusively in the Beta right now.

Re: "Clariphonique," a Kush Clariphonic-like parallel EQ rack
In a nutshell: The black macros are toggles, the white macros are gain. Tight is for a bell-shaped EQ, Diffuse is for a shelf. Try "tight" for percussion, lead sounds, even bass to make them more findable by the ear. Turn it up until it's a little too much then back it off. Silk and sheen ...

"Clariphonique," a Kush Clariphonic-like parallel EQ rack
I built an effects rack for Ableton Live that roughly works (roughly) like the Kush Audio Clariphonic, a nifty parallel EQ. If you try it out, let me know what you think. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/29654463/Clariphonique.adg See the rack info text for docs. http://s15.postimg.org/4mo3wj14b/...
