Re: Starting a daily music practice: the 40 Minute Music Project
@Timbeaux Thanks for the kind words. I don't really master these per-say, I just throw one of the stock mastering racks on my main output channel and crank the input gain until it sounds reasonable.

Re: Starting a daily music practice: the 40 Minute Music Project
Glad to hear that this idea has caught on with a few folks! Funny thing that music making is such a pleasure for most of us, and yet it's often the first thing we compromise when schedules are tight. A quick update on my own process: I was out of town for a few days so missed some sessions (in the f...

Re: Starting a daily music practice: the 40 Minute Music Project
maybe you can try to make a song with your own sounds. i know that problem because i saw sound design, making tracks, creating xy etc. as different tasks which i practise separately. this year i don´t wanna waste my time that much so im trying to combine them to finish more tracks and seeing all th...

Re: Starting a daily music practice: the 40 Minute Music Project
I can fully relate to struggling with focus, too. Far too often I've reached the end of the day feeling like I "didn't have time" for music, only to realize that I'd spent hours doing something unproductive, e.g. Facebook. A big part of my trying to form this music-making habit is an attem...

Starting a daily music practice: the 40 Minute Music Project
(Cross-posted this to the monome forums as well.) Like many of us, I often struggle to find time for making music- or at least I feel that I'm struggling. Considering how happy music making generally makes me feel, this seems like a damn shame. So I'm taking a page from the exercise crowd and crumpl...

CPU spikes during GUI operations: select, resize, drag, etc.
I've been suffering from this for quite some time, but keep neglecting to post about it. Am I the only one that gets significant CPU spikes any time I perform simple GUI operations in a fairly complex set? I'm working on track now that averages around 25% CPU usage as reported by Live's meter. Any G...

Re: APC40 Utilities patch now available
@chase- I play wherever they'll have me =). I do a lot of work with LoveTech ( http://lovetech.org ), and have played at Mezzanine, Temple, Shine, Il Pirata, Koko, etc. I actually have a show tonight (Wednesday 2/8) at Madrone on Divisadero if you're free. I'm on at 11pm, no cover. Say hello if you ...

APC40 Utilities patch now available
After a couple of years of procrastination, I'm finally gearing up to polish and publish the Max for Live patches I've developed for my Live performance rig. First one out of the gate is my APC40 Utilities patch. Features: 1. Metro Scroll : displays a transport-synced scrolling "metronome"...

Vestax VCI-400 demo w/ Live + Max for Live
I recently put together some videos demonstrating a Live template and collection of Max for Live patches that I put together for the Vestax VCI-400 ( http://www.vestax.com/v/products/detail.php?cate_id=186 ), a DJ-centric all-in-one MIDI controller. The demos have been posted to controllerism.com: h...

Re: Cables for Studio monitors
I've had good luck with Monoprice- quite cheap, and seem to be of high quality. Resellers on eBay regularly ship exactly these cables for $15-$20 each.

Re: padKontrol Playback Indication
The padKontrol responds to MIDI note messages sent to it by lighting the pad(s) associated with those notes. You'll need to explicitly route your MIDI clip back to the padKontrol in order to make this happen: Create a new MIDI track. Set the "source" to the MIDI track your clip is playing ...
