You have to pay to be a piper
Oh for god's sake stop whining! Live is an incredible product and is well worth the money. Certainly, it would be great if everything was all free... but have you ever experimented with the free music programs out there? You have to pay for quality and if 2.0 represents all the changes they says it ...

1. Definately long phrases and short clips. I use big chunks of ambiance- enviromental, synth and percussive - as a bed for the more temporal elements. This can be useful when improvising, as you always have a background going on while you are looking for that one clip or when twiddling effects. 2. ...

How about...
How about Changing your Startup Disk to OS 9? I mean, I know it seems a waste to even have OS X if that is a fix but I have found I'd rather have things up and running than not- at least until @$%#$# OS X gets up to speed....

All things to all people?
I think Live can be equally effective as performance tool and studio application. To me, that is the beauty of it all: a single tool that allows you to improvise, jam, perform, edit, mix and render... I am primarily a studio mole, so I welcome the ease of being able to sit down and bang out a track ...

Suggestion
You might try increasing the gain on the individual loops- this can punch up muddy loops quite a bit....

Have not really noticed...
But I find it best to post-process rendered tracks, even if only to add a little EQ. I actually find that I get better sound from a rendered track than I do from the original loops... Strange...

Rip, Slice, Dice
Once I rip audio from a CD, I use BIAS Peak to edit, loop and process either a whole track or whatever bits interst me... Any decent Waveform editor will do, though!

Live will certainly do that... but any decent waveform editor will also. Myself, I would go with the latter because Live is so much more than just a loop processor... Live is closer to a sequencer than a loop processor but then everyone uses it differently, as is evident from these forums! Now, if y...

...But time always is a relative thing in San Francisco, Grig  Anyhow, Gerhard, I enjoy working with the arranger view precisely because of it's Selection/Menu/Hot Key functionality. I learned how to use it on the fly, before I even opened the manual. Basic editing is simple. Everything about ...
