Re: is it just me or i can't find a better piano then abletons

Ableton's 'Grand Piano' pack is excellent considering that one can also infinitely tweak the dozen or so instrument racks that come in it. Haven't used the others mentioned but 'Grand Piano' won't disappoint.

Re: Russel Brand On Revolution

We should always be wary of wealthy people who prescribe anarchy as a solution. Anarchy always terrorizes most of the people including the most vulnerable, it's a distopian solution; Brand underestimates the misery of the poverty and violence that anarchy would bring down upon everyone. The irony i...

Re: on export, weak bass and tinny highs

Exporting at 32bit makes a difference one can hear. More space and clarity for mastering. Exporting and later downsampling of a 32bit stereo track to 16bit: the way to go.

Re: macbook & external display

A further issue is getting a monitor with a usable picture - picture quality is very variable. To save others some of the trial and error that I experienced, have a look at the Samsung LED S24A350H. I eventually got this 24incher with an additional VGA D-sub to Mini-dvi connector (the alternative di...

Not too much to expect . . .

Why they've withdrawn so much from the forums is, frankly, baffling.

CLOCK!

How about a proper CLOCK! instead of the desultory, "time ruler". Additionally, finer/proper control over breakpoints and automation generally. Often, holding down cmd (Mac) just doesn't cut it. Also, the annoying way envelopes can move a frac' when clicking on them to insert a control poi...

Re: Dear Ableton

I sent a separate email to Ableton to which they replied that, of course, the process of maintaining quality is on going. Nevertheless, I've included my reply to Ableton here for the sake of discussion. Thank you for your reply. I can see that from re-reading the original post on quality (below) I h...

Dear Ableton

Sometime ago you announced a moratorium on the development of new features in favour of a definitively stable and more or less bug free edition. How are you progressing with this version and when can we expect you to release it?

Re: Do we really need to learn an instrument to produce?

If quill and parchment is valid way to write a score, etc.. Indeed. I'm glad you agree that matters of authenticity miss the point. Any facility to make music is welcome. My favourite is the mind, which decides what music is, and for which ears are a means. And yes, playing instruments is gratifyin...
