Re: Recommend me a multisampled drum kit?
I recently upgraded from Live 7 to the Live 8 Suite boxed version, which included the Session Drums. I have to say they're very good quality, and I love the way they appear in your drumrack. It's fits really perfect in my workflow, and you can tweak a lot under the hood. But it's really hands-on con...

Re: Compressor question
Thanks for the feedback... Nice vid. Mr. Mowgli, but I know how a compressor works. I was just wondering if the Feedback button in "Compressor" can give similar results as using a high-end plugin like for instance the UAD Fairchild 670, when set correctly. Maybe you won't get exactly that ...

Compressor question
Hey People, I've recently updated to Live 8 and started reading the manual "over" again. I came across the Compressor chapter and read the following: "... FB is a feedback model, which analyzes the output of the device and then self-adjusts its compression behavior. Because feedback c...

Re: Basic Composition Book Recommends?
Hey continuous, Here's a page out of my diary  , which might help you: I know the feeling... I've only recently got out of this vicious cycle of creating short loops and "very cool sounds", without ever finishing a complete song. I fully understand your thoughts on getting a good boo...

+1 for Operator... I'm a huge fan of music with Glitch stuff in it. I believe it's the kind of sound that belongs to "our generation". So I'd say go for Operator, which uses FM Synthesis. It belongs in my opinion more to the "later/modern" sound... Uhhh... FM synthesis only came ...

Re: How do I create that sound?
Hey Angstrom, It's indeed that rippy sound! Your approach is exactly what I've been trying to do. After your post I've been trying to shape the sound more, and I do have the tones under control now. I think it's mainly the envelope I use, to controle the looplength, where the key to a controllable s...

How do I create that sound?
Hey Forum people, I was wondering how I can create that main synthsound in the song Vision One by Royksopp (on Junior). Especially how do I get that rattling/squeaking (like an old door closing :D ) in there... Check it here if you don't know the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnPZmSDPQEo&...

sharing Ableton Live projects to mix on different machines
Hey, I'm currently collaborating with a friend on creating a cd. Yesterday we recorded some stuff at his place... At the end of the day we wanted to create package files (.alp) so I could continue mixing the different tracks at my own place, but when i opened the files on my computer, they were all ...

PCR 2
Hey Dude, I think you should choose "PCR 2" for the Input in Live! Have you tried using Roland's template: http://www.roland.com/products/en/_support/dld.cfm?ln=en&dsp=0&iCncd=2165 I'm using this, chosing channel 1 on the controller... I didn't touch anything else: works like a cha...

Yeah!!! It will only be a matter of days, before you'll be able to connect this WIRELESS, VELOCITY SENSITIVE drumkit to your pc! (just see what happened with the wiimote)...
And you get a "guitar" and microphone AND a game thrown in for free

Thanx for all your feedback guys. You've given me some good tips here! Vertical thinking: I should take more advantage of that great feature in Live, indeed! It's true about the focussing stuff. I guess I need to have more of a goal with my music... Even if the goal is: having fun with Live! ...

Live's fun... too much fun!
Over the last year or so, I've been making making quite some loops in Live now, and it is a lot of fun... but that's what is the problem as well: I've been making only loops! I maybe finished 3 or 4 songs since I've been creating music in Live. My girlfriend pointed out to me yesterday, that before ...
