i use logic and iTunes from time to time
they always sound decent
i would say when converting a wav to mp3 make sure to the track is -1.5dB peak
that will stop any clipping or distortion etc etc etc

to me the bass and kick/snare don't seem to gel.
you should try bussing the bass stuff together. and the drums together to help gel the mix

Don't forget to try retuning your drums. Some quite weedy sounds can be made massive by slowing them down.
