Re: Performance - crackling & dropouts even though CPU not maxed
OK well it's 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16GB RAM... 1TB hard drive, traditional SATA And I'm using a dedicated interface yes. It only happens sometimes. But like I said, other DAWs can perform a lot more solidly on this machine. But then I know Live is more intensive in what it does. Just wondered i...

Performance - crackling & dropouts even though CPU not maxed
Hello Having some issues with Live 10 performance... admittedly I'm running a 2012 MacBook Pro, but it's top spec for it's time. It performs really well with other DAWs (e.g. Reaper). I know Live is more CPU Intensive, but still. At the moment my project is bouncing around between 40%-60%, which ain...

Re: Toggling crossfaded looped samples via scene triggering
Outline the desired result. What's the ultimate goal? Are you creating a scene that corresponds to an act/scene in a play, etc., that needs some sort of background sound to smooth the transition between each scene? Not as such, just want some background sounds to roll on continuously at the touch o...

Toggling crossfaded looped samples via scene triggering
Hi folks I've searched and experimented but not quite found the answer to this one... I want to set up Scenes in Live for use in a live theatre production which requires ambiences and continuous background sounds to start, continue and stop ad hoc in accordance with the action on stage. So I'd like ...

on screen panel toggle switches for automation or MIDI?
Let me explain - I have assigned a few keyboard presses to automation parameters in a particular plugin. No problem, I can press 1 to toggle distortion, press 3 to toggle something else etc. However what I'd really like is some kind of on-screen panel or window with a clickable button which sends MI...

loop library recommendations - reggae, dancehall, dubstep
Hey folks I'm doing some music tech workshops with some (musically unskilled) young people, and I could really use some good sample loop collections for them to play with. I have plenty of dancey trancey stuff already, but could really do with some recommendations of loop libraries in the following ...

Pre-made loops - please recommend collections/libraries
Guys Just looking for some recommendations for good libraries of pre-made loops - preferably looking for a wide variety of music from rave/hardcore to hip-hop and rock. Not for me you understand - I make my own music - but I do music tech workshops with young people. I have some 'difficult' youths t...

Re: FREEZE - would be good if this saved RAM as well as CPU....
Freeze and flatten is one of the most awesome things in Live!! Yeah, I've done a pad part and I want to chop up bits of it. Freeze and flatten, there you go, do what you like with it. Save a few versions of each track as a workround. Save one before a flatten. Flatten then save to a different file....

Re: FREEZE - would be good if this saved RAM as well as CPU....
yeah i have done that - fair enough i guess - i just think it would be more efficient to unload them from ram in the first place. if it's a big complex project i end up having to manage a lot of these saved channels in the browser. Not that bad I suppose, but I do find it a bit of a workflow disrupt...

FREEZE - would be good if this saved RAM as well as CPU....
I'm not a regular follower of this forum, so excuse me if I bring up something that's been discussed to death... I have an issue with freezing in Live, and that is that it doesn't unload the VSTi or effect from RAM. So although you can work around CPU limits with freeze, you're still limited by the ...

Re: Can't record automation into clips on Session View, correct?
Don't quite understand why this workaround is needed though - why can't I just record that MIDI data directly into the main VSTi clip/track with the note data? If your VSTi can be set up to respond to MIDI CCs using it's own GUI then you can record them, but if you have assigned them using MIDI lea...

Re: Can't record automation into clips on Session View, correct?
I discovered a work around only this morning!!!! Basically can't record automation but you can record MIDI CCs. The solution requires MIDI Yoke (or the Mac equivalent). It also requires that your controller is set to send on only one midi channel. This is what you do. In MIDI Preferences: set you m...

Re: Can't record automation into clips on Session View, correct?
You can at least copy paste the automation recorded in arrangment view to a clip... G Can you really do this? Doesn't work here. I can record automation in Arrange, no probs, but can't copy it over to a session clip. You could use automation (dummy) clips on audio tracks. They are silent wav files ...

Re: Can't record automation into clips on Session View, correct?
Thanks, but doesn't work here. I know about the OVR button, the Envelopes window, and the little red squares telling you what's been automated, but the only way I can get any automation into a clip in Session is by DRAWING an envelope into the clip for the relevant parameter. I'd LIKE to record on-t...

Can't record automation into clips on Session View, correct?
Guys, sorry I've just found this issue, I think it's been discussed before, but I wondered what the latest is on this: It appears to be impossible to record automation into clips in the session view - you can only record it on the arrange view. Clip automation can only be created by drawing envelope...
