Re: Would I need a turntable for anything other than scratching?

Vinyls are favored because they (potentially) deliver better audio quality than regular CDs, especially in lower frequencies which are all-important in electronic music. That said, you can throw a decent gig with *any* equipment whatsoever as long as you keep your audience entertained with track sel...

Re: Please return Announcements forum

Now it's much more difficult to find out, whether or not any given bug has been fixed and if, when. it's a coin flip if a feature is fixed for you. the only way to know is to try it yourself. never let a software company tell you something is fixed, try it yourself and let them know exactly how it'...

Please return Announcements forum

Hi, I would appreciate it very much if Ableton would reintroduce the Announcements section. I don't visit these forums very often and now it's quite difficult to search for Live changelogs. Now it's much more difficult to find out, whether or not any given bug has been fixed and if, when. Perhaps yo...

Re: best ableton tutorials??

Funny it's not mentioned yet; Ableton's own Live tutorial videos are a good starting point, as well as the built-in tutorial in Live itself.

Technically achieving what track comping does is very possible in Live; it's about speeding up workflow and making projects easier to handle, just like the "Extern. Instruments" addition was to Live 7. Take a look at eg. Digital Performer 6's new track comping feat., something like that wo...

native midi filter perhaps?

However, something that might be worth considering for Ableton would be grabbing the MIDI Patchbay http://notahat.com/midi_patchbay code (since it's MIT licenced 'n everything), abletonize it's visual appearance and integrate it into Live. While at it, perhaps they could compliment the codebase with...

Priority issues, probably

I have been periodically polling the Ableton support for plans to implement polyphonic aftertouch, and the current status is "not planned". Most likely the reason for this is that there are only a handful of (very expensive) synths which use this feature, and there aren't very many e-drumm...

Undo history

The two features that would support this could be copied as-is from digital performer, but I'm not too sure how well they'd work with Ableton. - Undo History. In practice, automatic version control with branching. - "Soundbites". Meaning, everything you record is always stored as it's own ...

Roland drums need it

I've been reading through the forums again and again, and it really does seem like Live completely ignores polyphonic aftertouch messages. This is really strange and bad, since Roland V-Drums use polyphonic aftertouch messages to handle cymbal chokes. What strikes me even weirder is that it apparent...
