I had a brand new Penryn MBP which powered my Ultralite just fine. I think the problem you're talking about is that the FW doesn't provide enough juice to fire up some interfaces (I distinctly remember there being a problem with Presonus stuff). A workround was to fire it up with AC connected, then...

Macbook pros don't power over firewire anymore?

I used to have a firebox when I had my powerbook and I sold when I upgraded to a firepod. But I know I used to use it bus-powered and I'm pretty sure I did when I had my first macbook. But now I just bought a firebox again as a portable interface and it won't run off bus-power from the firewire conn...

Winston - is this a 'new' trick? 'crop' all your clips (right click) then point Ms Pinky to the crop directory. boom, perfectly cropped sample loops that are in sync with your project. 8) Cool trick man, hadn't thought of that. have you been able to get the max/msp stuff working? Do you mean stuff ...

generally just when you want overdrive/distortion or if you want to squash the dynamic range. So you want to dirty it up, use saturator. You want it to sound louder and reduce peaks, or add a sharper attack or some compressor-like thing, then use compressor. The different models have a very differen...

Come to think of it, I think operator and sampler could really benefit from a parameter fold out view as well. Although I think the interfaces of both of those are well laid out, there are still lots of times that you want to see everything at once. Like operator's oscillators. It would be nice to s...

Like I said before, a fold out window like samplers sample map window for a bigger view of parameters would fix this.

Angstrom wrote: Here's a jet fighter, you can control it with these 10 controls, but to keep the interface all neat we put the controls under the seat. Tidy huh!

best $100 ever spent. on gear. I can't believe it took you this long. 8O Haven't I ranted about this long enough with all my "Fyck serato, this this costs 100 bucks...". Anyways, are using it with a midi crossfader to control live's crossfader or routing back out to your mixer. I use to h...

.. But Analog -- please Abes, do us a favor and have AAS include a full-size splash page option that rivals their own Ultra Analog VA-1. Yeah, and while they're at it, they should let AAS throw the chorus from Ultra Analog back on Analog. That's the only thing that made the sound stand out in the f...

I use macs, and I like 'em. But mostly for the OS.

I'd say if you're not going to use OSX at all, just save yourself money and get a PC.

BTW, learning OSX isn't that hard.
