I now realise that in rewire slave mode Live cannot host vst instruments. So it's audio only.
My original plan was to use Live for all audio and midi arrangement and SX to handle effects and mixing. But that is now toast.
As a loop explorer I can use Acid - it previews midi as well as audio. I ...

Crucial to getting that commercial kick is invisible compression. Where you duplicate your kick track and apply eq boost and compression to one of the tracks then mix both to a bus with a limiter.

Slicing Loops
I've just got Live rewired up to Cubase SX and was about to try out an arrangement.
I had assumed that loop manipulation in Live would be as complete as in Reason for example. But in case I'm missing something I seems like I can't manipulate loops at the slice level (pitch shift, delete, move etc ...

Thanks, actually this is on Windows. I tried a second time and Live popped up a message say "Problem with Rewire Master" then crashed. The I got a Blue Screen!
I did then pop over to the Mac and try Live rewired with Logic - absolutely perfect - and Reason is installed there also. I'm going to try ...

Rewiring with Cubase SX
Got it up and running but there's a lot of audio breakdown. The Live CPU meter is reading zero, the SX meter is reading less than 5% yet there are dropouts all over the place.
I can seriously load SX with VSTs and Effects and this doesn't happen at all. What am I doing wrong?

Resource issue with Waves Plug-ins
I had been wondering why the CPU meter was reading 70-80% so decided to strip the project down and see where the cpu hog was.
It turns out that for every Waves Q10 (or any Waves plug) I add to a track, 2% of CPU is consumed - even if there is no processing going on.
This is on Windows, so I jumped ...

You can get it for £269.99 here in London.

I cancelled my order with Albeton when I discovered it would take 7 days to ship from Germany to the UK and that they were charging £60 more than a retailer.
