I tend to think he's overrated -- although SAW2 was the first electronic music I heard that was really interesting to me, back in the 90's. He's also a brilliant marketer. He's always had that cool logo and people (mostly geeky white guys) project this badass-itude on him that they themselves wish t...

The demo for any box is this impressive -- nothing qualitatively new here.

Cool, but don't get seduced by blinking lights and cool camera angles...

Music by atheists: Rush

Music by Christians: Amen Brother

I think I'll stick with the latter.

About the self-hatred -- I think it's founded in good points (It's true that Americans consume waaaay too much, for instance) but where there's any group with common aims, there's peer-pressure and orthodoxy. I think the antidote is to be level-headed, respectful, disarming, and positive at all time...

Just a quick note about PD --

The MIDI latency is determined by the audio latency. Consequently, you can reduce the MIDI latency to a very low level by setting Audio Latency at 0 or 1 mS.

Just FYI,

You can do this with most any sampler, soft- or hard-. Even a basic unit will work fine. You can even do this with Ableton's Session view.

I think the main challenge is keeping your head around what you've got.

I believe in God, and I think that religion is responsible for many good things (Greenpeace, soup kitchens, etc...) but I think religion is often misused by people in power.

I think that most (but not all) of the people who are aggressively anti-religion have ulterior motives.

Awesome...I'm moving to Austin in 3 weeks (I actually have an empty duplex on 34th and Guad. right now).

I plan to sell off my car (working, doing programming, for myself) and just ride my BMX cruiser to run errands around town, etc...

I can't speak to whether or not any new steps will be made, but I can say that I remember the name "Iwao Takamoto" from many of the cartoons I watched as a kid in the mid-late 80s, like Heathcliff and Inspector Gadget.

Most of that is coming from the sampler, though, not the drums. The drum is playing mostly accents.

Notice that when he's adjusting settings, the full beat keeps playing...

In terms of pure diversity and amount of things happening in a small space, NYC is tough to beat. Personally I don't like the general demeanor there, enough to live there. Austin is very pretty, also very liberal and very Texan at the same time. It's easy to have a good time there. San Diego has a l...
