When you say that splitting the sound from the laptop weakens it, are you splitting the stereo signal into two separate stereo signals or taking the left and right signals? The reason I ask is, if you don't need stereo backing tracks to go FOH, there's no reason why you can't route the left channel ...

Roland VS-880 as MIDI controller

Does anyone think it's worth $100 to buy a used VS-880 to use as a MIDI controller for mixing in Ableton/Cubase?

I know it's a bit long in the tooth now, but has transport controls and faders, all of which (I think) can be used as CCs

I don't think the collisions will start for a few months, but they have just injected particles into the collider and will be spending the day trying to get them to go all the way around it.
