Just wondering, is ok to leave your machine plugged in to the mains all the time, or is better to work your butt off... I mean, your battery? Cheers Hd I run mine (Macbook) off the battery most of the time, it's supposed to be better for them. I had an old Ti powerbook that stayed plugged in more o...

This is a wind-up, surely? It's the only thing I've seen covered from the whole sorry ceremony. I can imagine much backslapping in the pr department for whoever thought it up.

You can see them at Salon too:

You have to click through a quick ad to get at the content but it only takes a second.

I've found a few UK dealers selling it for about £400, and it seems to be around $700 in the US. I'm very tempted...

BTW, during the hunt for reviews of the Akai I found this:

http://www.robosax.com/synthophone/index.htm

No mention of a price for it, though!

[OT] new wind synth

Has anyone had a chance to play with one of these? I'm a lapsed saxophonist and I've been toying with the idea of getting an old wx7 or something off ebay, but this new akai looks like it could be the dug's nads.

I thought i read an article recently about these types of headphones and creating more pressure or something along those lines causing permanent ear damage. anyone care to comment on that? I dunno about that, but I've noticed I use my ipod at a much lower volume now it's not fighting with the backg...

Etymotics

I picked up a pair of ER6i's off ebay and they're excellent with my ipod. I haven't really used them with Live but out and about (especially on the Tube) the isolation is very good, as long as you put them in right. Just be careful taking them out - I managed to separate the earphone from the bud on...

A .dmg is a disk image file. The easiest way to use it like this would be to double-click it before you fire up battery (or after, it shouldn't really matter). This will mount the image on your desktop as if it was an external disk and let you get at all the files in it from the finder or from insid...

Variation on the theme...

I'd like to be able to restack the Clip, Launch, Notes and Envelopes boxes when I'm editing midi clips. Right now if you resize the bottom half of the session view to enlarge a midi clip, these four boxes stay in a stubborn little row with a big useless blank space above them. I want to shift a coup...

Well, that's certainly true.

But that's quite an offensive nickname if you ask me. I certainly wouldn't use it in front of my granny.

Rev B is the second version of the imac g5 - the first version was the 1.6 or the 1.8, the second version is the 1.8 or the 2.0.

So the powerbook G5 apple announces next month after I finally gave up and bought an imac will be a Rev A... :?

Pretty much the same. The meter went straight to some astronomical number and the speakers made a kind of crunching noise with the occasional buzz. I stopped trying pretty quickly.
