Re: Best vocal recording approach? 1 mic or two?

Thanks, 3phase and evernaut. I'll leave the setup as it was. Appreciate your input!

Best vocal recording approach? 1 mic or two?

Last year I recorded my sister singing some charming children's songs, just voice and piano. The piano is a high-quality Yamaha digital; we played the accompaniment first and ported that into Live, then recorded the vocal with one mic, mono, as the piano accompaniment played back. There is a low bac...

Statuc recording

I am doing a new setup of Live 7LE (using my new HP Pavillion laptop, Audiofire 4 interface) and getting recordings with lots of "static." I have a desktop setup of Live LE and MAudio box elsewhere--so have some experience but not a deep knowledge of how digital audio recording really work...

Thank you, Ian--I do have Audacity and find it an easier editing tool than Live. Patricia

I followed the instructions in that lesson when I first did the set-up, but it would be worth re-visiting.

I have the piano plugged into an ASIO interface--not a MIDI connection. (I think it's a line-in minijack--I'm vague on some of the terminology.) So I want to have that track play back on both speakers when my singers get going. My sisters and I get together each year at this time and our main activi...

Thank you--I appreciate the help in solving my problem. I'm recording accompaniment tracks with a digital piano (direct input) so there isn't a true stereo effect but I want the sound coming out of both speakers when my singer starts singing!

Newbie--convert mono to stereo

Newbie question (though I have searched knowledge base, forums, etc)--I am recording an electric piano in mono--and want to duplicate the left mono channel to the right channel for adding tracks. How do I do this? I tried copying the mono track to a second audio track and changin it to the right cha...

Importing a wav file

I am a relative novice at sound recording and Live (I have Live 6 LE). But I am trying to import a wav file (piano accompaniment recorded earlier) in order to add vocal tracks. When I find the file via the Live browser and click on it, it "shows" as 3 Audio in the Session view. If I double...
