Sending Octave Shift Message with Synth?
Hi, Recently my pitch wheel on my Axiom 61 crapped out on me, so rather than to fix it, I'm thinking I'm going to pick myself up an old synth with good solid keys (I pretty much can't stand anything on the market so I'm looking at a Yamaha SY35 with the FS synth keys) and then a control surface for ...

Re: Polyphony Question
I'm confused. Hopefully it's my lack of sleep. So, it goes without saying that if I'm using a patch on the DX11's soundboard, it's going to only register 8 notes of that, so that's all I'll hear. But what if I have the DX11 hooked up to an interface to my laptop, or hooked up to a synth module? Is t...

Polyphony Question
I am looking into getting a Yamaha DX11, which looks like a great keyboard in most ways, but it says the polyphony is a mere 8 notes at once. I am planning, however, on using it as a MIDI controller, so is the polyphony determined by what the software can handle or by the DX11 itself? Hope this make...

Absolutely love it; one of the best shows of the last decade (in my opinion, like top 3).

So's That It?
Is that the end of NAMM news? I mean, I know the event carries on for a few more days, but do the individual companies/manufacturers post their new products on their site at the onset of the event? Do different companies present on different days? I'm just surprised Yamaha and M-Audio slept through ...

Or people who've actually thought out their arguments and are being realistic. I think the world is better off without the type who don't do these things.3phase wrote:cheap excuses from people with a lack of own ideas or the atitude to be an original..

Re: Ripping other artists off!
This being said (trying to be a LITTLE more concrete, bear with me), in the case of music, I find that one's best bet at turning out the most original stuff is to operate at the structure of the music rather than the exterior. I once heard a musician (and a pretty good one at that) say "it's al...

Re: Ripping other artists off!
Yeah, I get thinking philosophically about this to the point of paranoia. The way I see it is, we are just vessels taking in input from what has already been said/thought/done/written, but the trick is to recombine all of this in an original way. Unless there's some otherworldly factor that we just ...
