Re: MIDI Remote Script "SelectedTrackControl" is open source now
Does anyone know if it still works on Ableton 12?

Re: Live 12 won't launch
What is this AVX2 improving, by the way? Live's interface dates back its v1 visually (for the best, actually). Can't see how modern machines should need any extra props with gfx specifically. Looks like a questionable, limiting design choice. Next comes usb3.3 only ;) Strangely, some user on steam c...

Best value-for-money second-hand laptop processors for Ableton 12
It used to be thinkpad x230's i-5 3320M for some time according to some sources - extremely cheap given the overclocked performance it delivered per dollar. I wonder what that looks like in 2024, considering both the generalised performance to price and ableton architecture. Read in this forum that ...

Generic clip naming as a versioning tool
Keep getting back to this because unless automated smartly, clip naming remains obsolete. Yet another possibility would be an option to have generic clip naming based on the track name, with index numbering added automatically each time a clip was modified uniquely. So imagine scenario Create a new ...

Midi notes / waveform still visible in parameter automation view
It would really help with polyrhythms to have an idea of how the notes / waveform looks when tweaking automation in session view, especially when dealing with lengths of automation unlinked. A long automation lane would see wave/ notes looped.

Re: Locking a plugin window to always be visible?
A great feature indeed. Setting to be remembered between sessions (with plugin positioning on the desktop), so that some of those plugins might be pinned in project template.

In-group track does not have to feed into group fx!
What a great thing to have a choice. you can put a track in a group only to have its clips triggered with grouped tracks but the output may go to master - or any other group. The best of both worlds
This also means that to go through a group's fx, a track does not have to be sat in the group.

Bar time metering in sampler for tail control automation
This will make you able to use samples with an onset, a loop and a tail very conveniently. Imagine recording a techno ride loop of 3 bars, wheere rides start playing in bar 1, loop in bar 2 and have a tail in bar 3. if you want to use it as a clip, you will always have to be mindful of adding the ta...

Auto start playback with start of looper recording
One more looper option: start playback with looper start recording. This will help with loopering sample onset, for example with ride cymbal.

Streamline looper workflow
There are many steps if you looper stuff, some of which appear obsolete. As a pop-up option, you might choose to have looper cleared as you drag loop elsewhere. This saves you getting back to do that, especially useful if you have more things to do with the new loop. Dragging the loop inbetween two ...

Smart magnet grid for clip length in Arrangement
There may be a clearer way to express this idea. If you slightly extend a clip in the arrangement beyond its loopable length, for instance, to include the first drum hit of a bar to emphasize the start of the beginning of the next part of the song, the appended section persists when you adjust the c...

Re: Hotkey to go to next Track
I don't know about 12, but 11 does enable this, with some tweaks. Browse the forum for Selected Track Control.
There was also GoodKeys but only until 10.
It's indeed a very useful functionality, with track change, mute/solo/arm, previous/next track etc.

That would be so much ableton. Trickier with audio but no reason not to be able to remove parameter recording, for one thing.
Else, you might forget to fix that later.

Re: Automatic plugin migration (VST2 > VST3)
In case this has not been mentioned yet, it would be good to see in browser and in project which format the plugin is. No way to tell now whether you are opening vst3 or 2. Also at the project level: a list of plugins (and whether on at all by user or by automation, plus their formats) would save lo...
