Ableton is the best.

Every now and then, I try out other DAWs—this is what originally brought me from Cubase to Ableton. For the last couple of years, I have checked out Bitwig with every major version. On paper, bw looks really impressive, but somehow its interface and even workflow is so off-putting compared to ...

More natural playback of frozen loops

freezing loops in session view – improvement idea

When you freeze a loop in session view, ableton captures three phases:

1. Onset – the bit before the loop actually starts

2. Loop proper – the section that repeats

3. Outset – the tail after the loop ends

Ideally, there should be a way to ...

Can you guys share hi-res, high-angle pictures of the renewed push? Be great to know how good "much better" is.

Re: Ryzen 5 5600u for Ableton 12

Hi. Thanks for writing. I actually forgot about this thread. At some point I realized that anything less than ryzen 5 Pro would be questionably a step forward from my ThinkPad X 230. This has to do with the change in approach across the whole laptop market to balancing performance against battery ...

Re: Recent MIDI Remote framework change in Live 11

Thanks for writing.
I am quite familiar with the process of installing third party scripts, so my question is whether there has been any change in the code of Ableton that would render, maybe more specifically, old remote scripts, which this one relied on, obsolete between 11.2 and the most recent ...

Recent MIDI Remote framework change in Live 11

Selected Track Control for Ableton Live – a MIDI Remote script by @wiffbi worked perfectly well until Live 11.2 at least but does not show with later versions of 11. That's a great pity, by the way.

Have there been any changes in the framework, and if yes, in which version were there ones which ...

Re: Best value-for-money second-hand laptop processors for Ableton 12

So far, I have been very happy with the two of my ThinkPads, so keeping an eye on L13 with a Ryzen 5 Pro. Prices have gone up,so waiting for another low.

That said, if a new laptop is such a roulette, I might just enjoy what I have for now, that is, until the x230 burns out.

Re: Control selected track \w keyboard shortcuts

Appears to have stopped working w/ the latest versions of Ableton 11. Any changes to the code to cause that or something wrong with my setup? What is the latest version it worked with?

Re: Sync Latency Compensation DISASTER

I would say that that silence at the beginning of the clip, and this gets compounded with each iteration, is evidence for the audio being written without compensating. If to play back delay compensation affects all tracks, I can see no reason for a new audio track with no plugins not to be ...

Looks like the discussion has forked, so happy for you to follow through with your case, and here is mine:

It was discussed earlier, so just a recap. TTBOMK, track playback IS compensated, no matter how heavy plugins. What I have been ...

Re: Sync Latency Compensation DISASTER

Very interesting. If that is the case there should be 'preferred' tempos burdened with less error. And the one able to make out which values that would be?

Re: Sync Latency Compensation DISASTER

How is it solved in bitwig and other daws?

Last time I checked in cubase, which was ages ago, in sx1, the issue was the same.

Re: Live 12 won't launch

As I think of it, it is a huge surprise after the fact to find out none of the beta testers came back here to let everyone know. Probably bound by NDA.

As I said, the minimum CPU requirements were listed on ableton.com the day L12 was announced.

But people are mostly musicians and many ...
