Re: USB 3.0 Flash Drive as backup drive for project files
it will be a lot slower than an SSD, especially at writing data (you will notice that write speeds are not mentioned on the SanDisk website)... Truth right there. The write speed isn't even listed for that particular drive. Get this instead: https://www.sandisk.com/home/usb-flash/extremepro-usb. I ...

Re: Justice DANCE Live Version
LFO pitch mod with a big envelope. Sounds like it's just sort of activated very briefly. Maybe you'd map it to a pad to make it easy to "punch it in".

Re: Does a reliable audio interface really exist?
I've used MOTU interfaces for almost a decade. The only problem I ever had was with a shitty firewire card in the computer I was using at the time.

Re: MPC2000 MIDI input super short
It makes sense that the notes are very short. When you tap a pad on the MPC, it only records the period during which the pad was depressed. Only a fraction of a second if you're banging something out. Do an experiment and see if keeping the pads depressed longer than just a tap will record a longer ...

Re: UC33e compared to launch control?
The LCXL is good and cool. Very flexible with the editor. All the knobs have a center detent, which can be handy. For under $150, it's a solid purchase. One thing I'd love to do is figure out how to directly modify the firmware. There must be a way. Then you could do some really interesting stuff, l...

Re: Is Apple losing its way in music tech?
It's REALLY easy for musicians not to upgrade your OS... Just don't hit the upgrade button. It's been like this for a decade, but only recently are software companies actively telling their users not to upgrade to the next version. They are doing this in response to strong marketing from Apple and o...

Re: Mac OS X Yosemite no wifi hardware??
Probably nvram or smc got messed up, so your wireless adapter is missing and Live thinks there was a hardware change so it unauthorizes itself. Instructions to reset nvram / smc here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295 Also upgrade to El Capitan when yo...

Honestly, copyright holders won't give a heck until you're either making money or affecting their paycheck. Sample away!

This seems to indicate that the CPU inside the MBP will have better performance: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Xeon-W3565-vs-Intel-Core-i7-3720QM These days, there's a lot more to consider than frequency when it comes to CPU power. I bet enabling multicore support will improve performance since the ...
