Re: Academic version question
Functionally, yes. You get the same stuff and it does the same stuff. One warning however. There is no upgrade path for the Academic version. Not sure if that is accurate - I bought the academic version of 6, upgraded to 7 and then upgraded to 8, I've not yet paid the full price I paid for 6 over a...

Re: my mix sounds fine before i bounce it, then it clips!
Is it clipping on the meters in live? If so, that's why, stop it clipping (redlining) in Live and try bouncing again.

Re: the os x tips thread
>>come on... pick a fight Ok - in XP I can tell the cursor to jump to the default button a dialog, an option which improves workflow considerably. On a Mac - you have to pay a 3d party developer $20.00, for the same functionality. The default button in a dialog is highlighted blue, meaning you just...

Re: Logic and Warping
In addition to the above mentioned apple loops, you can option drag the resize handles t stretch/compress the whole region, if it's something you have recorded into the project yourself you can set it up as a follow track in the inspector - none of these options work to the same level of detail as w...

Re: Best wav editing software?
seems to me that for the mac you either a. shell out about £1000 b. use Audacity c. settle for a product which lets you look at the waveform but not edit it. I look forward to Wavelab for the mac when that arrives. Try AmadeusPro: http://www.hairersoft.com/AmadeusPro/AmadeusPro.html Yeah I t...

Re: Best wav editing software?
The best wave editors are on PC. That's a very ill educated assertion - there are some significantly overlooked audio editors out there which simply don't run on windows (Audiofile Engineerings Wave Editor for example). The fact your institution doesn't run those means very little, cost and familia...

This is a normal occurance for me - I type very hard and have trashed two dell (work owned) laptops in two years, and had my Macbook (not pro) keyboard replaced 4 times - for the macbook it can be done in under an hour, and they generally have the parts in stock in my local apple store (Lakeside or ...

I'm really interested in this for some future projects I'm involved with. I found a program called Vortex Surround Mixer that you can rewire Live to and you can use it to configure pretty much any multi-channel set-up you want. It has some excellent features like fully recordable automation and ton...

I've been using a Kenton control freak live gigging for a number of years, the only problem with it is that the pots have plastic spindles, would be better with metal spindles. The body is all metal and built like a tank, interface is flexible and really nice - but compared to the current flock of c...
