New Computer - Same Ableton - VSTs won't work
Got my new super computer - 64 bit Windows 7, i7 quad core processor, tons of ram, tons of hard drive space, great. Loaded Ableton and it's running fine. HOWEVER, I can't use my VSTs. I have Rapture and Zebra and I loaded them - the .dll files are in the vst directory, and nothing. It won't even rea...

Re: Copyright?? Sampling From Speeches/Spoken word
A really fun source of samples is in Archive.org. The short film collections have such an incredible variety of really weird, insane stuff. You can download a short subject into quicktime and rip the audio track.

Re: ------ REMIX CONTEST and More ---------> DANCE & CLUB MUSIC
Wow - I wonder if this is that guy. Damn I can't remember - a while back there was this contest and we asked the guy a bunch of questions and he wouldn't answer any of them.

Re: Anybody managed to set up midi fripp?
I would highly recommend checking out Elottronix XL http://www.uv.es/~ruizcan/p_vst.htm This is a fantastic Frippertronics emulator. It takes a little time to get up to speed - it's a bit complicated. Once you get the hang of it you can use it for some really cool effects. I've used this on several ...

High Impact Interval Training
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=838424 HIIT HARD ROCK PROJECT I composed this rocking instrumental piece at the request of my wife who does high impact interval training (running for 1-2 minutes at different BPM for a total of 18 minutes) and thought that the only music availab...

What a great question. You have inspired me to clean up my insanely cluttered VST subdirectory. After using Ableton for a year I have pretty much whittled my VST usage to the following: EastWest Gold XL-1 Symphonic Orchestra Play Edition (purchased) NuGen Audio Visualizer (purchased) Kjaerhaus Audio...

Possibly my favorite free plug in is Elotronix XL: http://www.uv.es/~ruizcan/p_vst.htm When you get the hang of this Frippertonics emulator there is so much you can do with it. I had 5 of these for 5 differenc instruments on different timing chains with a clean drum track to keep everything aligned....

EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Gold
Has anyone used this? I'm just afraid it's going to be too CPU hoggy, but it sounds just wonderful and it's on sale at Musician's Friend.

A good microphone is the critical first step to good vocal recording. I use an AKG wide-diaphragm. Get the levels juicy but not too hot - definitely don't turn the trim up in the red. Also, hate to mention it, but being a good vocalist is very helpful as well. I struggle with laying vocals on my tra...
