Re: 32 bit float recording

32 bit float encoding for the Zoom is specific for the Zoom so not interchangeable with Ableton. Aha. Some kind of header thing I guess. That's weird. I'm sure I've pulled in live recordings off an H5 before now. I must have misremembered. As jlgrimes says, there’s really no ADC/DACS around that is...

Re: 32 bit float recording

I'm confused by this thread.

Ableton Live records 32 bit waves, and can open them.

Go to preferences, Record Warp Launch, look at the Bit Depth selector dropdown.
It's been 32 bit capable for years.

Re: I made Live pay for its own upgrade (a disgusting humble brag!)

Why on Earth are you of all people not alpha/beta testing and getting your upgrades through that? Jeez, you'd probably even only need to ask Amo and he'd probably sort you out for being a camper, still here holding the bar up after two decades!! 8O Know your worth old boy! :!: Perhaps I'm too much ...

Re: Add custom folder to default new project structure

I am not sure if there's a prototype set somewhere. But for "Audio" specifically - if there are samples which I want to save manually into the set I just put them in the Current Project/Samples folder which is auto-created. Look under Places : Current Project If you have a project open the...

Re: Live sets take a lot of time to load

A song with a lot of resources to load will take some time. Killing the ableton indexer process speed up my loads by about 10x if the indexer is spinning (visible in task manager) the status bar at the bottom crawls along, and then if I kill the indexer process that bar rockets to the end instantly ...

Re: Should I Dither?

You should dither whenever reducing the bit depth / word length. Simply truncating (eg from 32 bit to 24 bit, or to 16 bit ) means throwing away data, and dithering blurs the bottom edge of that truncation. Even though it's rare that we hear those really quiet parts of the dynamic range it is still ...

Re: Save and recall workspace states

Here’s a bit of a non answer As is the usual yet slightly unsatisfying response to most of these workflow automation questions “you can do that in Max” I say “unsatisfying” because while the API exposes everything required and there will be numerous “mix snapshot” type devices in the M4L public repo...

Re: Love my mix but it has red bars in volume levels

Just make sure the output/master doesn't clip at all. That's the important part. The channels are 32bit headroom. They won't clip internally. When the all get summed at the master you get that one last chance to bring it down . Do it there. On that fader. No matter what people try to tell you about ...

Re: Does anyone know anything more about the leaked Ableton image?

that pic actually still has pads in the bottom, if people want those velocity-sensitive with aftertouch with the same quality as Push 2, a new design with smaller size won't even cost much less. So IMO, the screen and the pads would cost about the same, while 4x more knobs and 10x more touchstrips ...

Re: preset system

Ableton's stumble over preset handling is exposed best by the fact that Main Stage exists Ableton had a stranglehold on the "live performance" laptop person on stage market. It's just that they never addressed the need for a performer to flip through presets AND through instruments / layer...

Re: is there a list of good M4L development resources?

If you love a bit of variable typing, or enjoy plotting in radians you will not see the problem with the "introduction to Max". If variable typing, arrays, dicts, booleans all taste like a mouthful of castor oil ... you will never learn Max through the official tutorials. I have no maths,...
