Re: Push 2... (cause I like bashing Abes)

Totally agreed. Count me in as another person who liked the Push 1 but felt that it fell WAY short of what I wanted from it. After taking advantage of the trade-in deal and receiving my Push 2, I was treated to a vast improvement in interface, look and feel. I'm definitely feeling the change in spee...

Re: The Bitwig evaluation thread

That's where the clip editing comes in handy, being able to mince and mingle different audio files in one clip and then bounce it quickly. It's faster and more fun to do in BW and bouncing in place cuts down on A LOT of time. That's another thing I forgot to mention. The editing in audio clips is a...

Re: The Bitwig evaluation thread

I've spent a few hours with the manual and Bitwig, and I've come away feeling pretty great about it. My workflow is heavily based in resampling, something that you can accomplish far faster in Bitwig thanks to the elegant "bounce in place" operation. You can even create a clip on the maste...

It's healthy to be reminded, on occasion, of just how far one has to go in their craft. This video is that reminder. Fucking phenomenal stuff 8O

Re: Is using synth presets 'cheating'?

Hopefully you’re getting some solid tracks cooking. You’re sound design tutorials are great. :) And I also hope your extensive knowledge of sound design and the sounds you’ve made help speed up your composing. Thanks man, I really appreciate that! The music is flowing like crazy, thankfully. My onl...

Re: Is using synth presets 'cheating'?

I greatly admire sound designers in pro studios who the engineer can just go to with “I need a …” and done. But imagine having that skill but not being able to compose a decent track. :x Exactly. I neglected my composition for a long time in favor of making cool sounds, so now I'm playing catch up ...

Re: Is using synth presets 'cheating'?

Not at all. I'm a huge proponent of learning how to use your synths, but mixing sound design and music composition in the same session is a recipe for never getting any music written. That's where presets come in, whether you made them or whether you got them from somewhere else. Presets give you in...

I use Tremor daily. It's a fun little drum synth and the pattern editor is quite powerful.

Re: upgrade from Ableton's standard synths?

I've been in love with Zebra, Massive & Alchemy for third party synths lately. However, when it comes to just sitting down and making a sound, Analog and Operator still take the cake. I recommend pairing them with some interesting effects rack creations of your own, though. I see Live's tools mo...
