OK i think i found where you are talking about, it does make the tracks wave form apear below. Problem is that i still cant use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out.
only way i have found to do this is to actualy click on the wave form and then press the + and -
surely there must be a way to ...

selecting sample display via midi?
How does some one set focus to the “sample display”? I want to be able to zoom in and out with my midi controller, but the buttons will only work if I have clicked on the “sample display” first.

I got the midi going out to Midid yoke: 8 ch 1
But when i goto assign midi to the button. how do i tell the button which signal it must respond to? i press the button on my controler. but it uses the controler button not the midi one.

workaround using IAC- or midi yoke-loop.
Make a blank midi channel. This channel sends notes out to IAC/midi-yoke, which then come back into live as remote-control-midi-messages.
Make a clip (no quantization, not looped) on that channel that sends out e.g. the note c3 . Now assign the set-loop ...
