Hey all,
I did this 4 years ago (and posted 4 years ago)... I won't be updating this anytime soon. If someone else wants to, please go for it... there's also new distortion tools that weren't available when I did this, like Softube's amp.

Re: Post your Live 9 upgrade path and price
If I sell my ableton live suite license for 300E and take another one whit the 25% off I still have a better price for the 9 upgrade... COME ON ABLETON! That's true. But you'll need to find somebody to buy it... 8O I was thinking the same thing but yeah... who would buy??? Seriously, WTF??? I bough...

25 Free Alchemy LFOs
See below, courtesy of Reason Lahalla: :) Hola. We've created some custom LFO waveforms to use in Alchemy, and I thought maybe someone else would like to play with them, so I packaged some of them up and put them on the server for people to download: Download Page for LFO Waves http://teamdnr.net/im...

Re: Do YOU use a foot controller & WHERE are the cool new ones?
I use a Line 6, FBV Express MKII. I use the pedal to control CC1 (Modwheel) and I use the stomps as transport controls (play/stop/record/loop). I'd hate to not have a foot control at this point... freeing up my hands to do other tasks is a huge time saver.

Re: Why render MIDI?
To save on CPU! I haven't downloaded this, so I can only speculate if being specific, but otherwise this, possibly latency issues and more... I know that when I work on sets, my projects get pretty ridiculous with number of tracks, so freezing/bouncing/rendering helps keep the project manageable. It...

Re: 3rd party, non-ableton .wav "packs"
I always drop samples libraries into Live's library, under Samples in a new folder to keep everything organized. It's very easy to access everything you need, but as mentioned you might have to do some tweaking with the warp markers. Still, Loopmasters is usually good about carrying lots of "Li...

Re: Live's reverb sounds like an indoor swimming pool
Only vaguely relevant, but interesting: A friend of mine who worked as an engineer in studios in the 70s, before decent hardware reverbs were commonplace (beyond springs) told me about one studio where there was an entire (huge!) room that they used for reverb. There were speakers and a mic in ther...

Re: what to do about songs that now crash Ableton Live?
If you're feeling impatient, one thing you can do is create a new live set, and then drag the individual tracks from your previous set to the new one. Eventually, you find out which track is causing the issue. I've had to do this many times as a result of various updates to either Live or to plugins...

Re: Live's reverb sounds like an indoor swimming pool
I got Reverberate, but it seems to be associated with crashes, so I might go back to Live's Reverb. Email the developer (Matt - If I remember right...) and he's quick for making adjustments. I do have to say that I've never had crashes with Reverberate on Mac or PC in any of my various hosts. For m...
