Re: The most useful tip you ever learned
Try to challenge yourself by learning something new or reviewing something old on a regular basis. This will keep your brain fresh with new ideas and will also promote creative thinking. You don't have to take a class for this, there are plenty of places to learn something new: Youtube, books, the m...

Re: Help on making things glitchy!
+3 on the "work with samples here." it's so much quicker to remember the old command-d, c, etc then throw a frequency shifter to do these dips or rises in pitch. Working with samples will actually save you a lot of time if you get to know all your tools. My partner likes to do the chops an...

Re: Drum replacement, Free ableton workaround!!
That's a nice little trick there...
So what would you do if you also wanted to say replace snares and toms? I'm guessing the key part is isolating the individual drum part right? Still pretty cool trick.

Re: Multiband Dynamic Effect- Level up your sound design
yes indeed this is a great little tool. I've actually created a device rack for mastering using only Ableton Live devices. it does a nice job at it though it does not compare to the commercial adversaries like Ozone, T-Racks, and of course waves. I'll throw it up on my blog tonight for you guys to d...

Re: Final Mix Questions
If you want your tracks to sound nice and loud you have to start with a clean mix. Loudness really shouldn't really happen until you maximize it later on in the mastering process. Focus on getting your idea across first. Here are some things to keep in mind when doing a mixing. 1. lo-cut anything th...

oh yes and I often use some form of imager to widen and soften sounds which are a little harsh by nature, a multiband is even better.

Re: When mixing, do you throw an EQ8 on the end of each track?
ditto on the hi-pass on every band but kick and bass. It's really easy to set up your eq to default to say like a 100hz soft roll off. It really does wonders in keeping your mix nice and clean. I don't really keep reverbs on every track, I think it's easy to over do it. However, I do tend to use com...

Building Drum Kits fast and efficiently using Slicing.
I've got a new video which illustrates how I use slicing to build custom drum rack from my hardware drum machines. In this tutorial you'll also learn how to create your own Slicing presets, as well as some time saving techniques which you can apply to your own presets. http://bit.ly/jJtZFk -- happy ...

Re: Tips on combining projects for live use?
This is actually a rather common issue. There are plenty of tutorials for doing just this. The tempo issue us easily solved by renaming a scene and including the word bpm next to a tempo. For example. You do call it something like "song mane intro 90bpm". Whenever you launch the clip live ...

Re: what can logic do for me that ableton can not?
live is what it is. logic is what you make of it. no matter if you are doing dance stuff, film scoring, band recording, sound design, audio drama, syncing (as master or as slave), advanced midi features (really really advanced!), mixing, multi screen setups, laptop or big screen, importing/exportin...
