The Good, the Bad and the Lovely

My latest mix is finally here! It's called " The Good, the Bad and the Lovely " ... A whole lot of work went into splicing tunes up into little bits, then putting the bits back together again - I hope you like it! This is a casual stroll through 67 songs in less than half as many minutes. ...

Smooth Celloriminal

http://soundcloud.com/jimbalaya/smooth-celloriminal I do a lot of audio editing for a local dance studio - everything from quick edits to detailed mashups – and this last project was a lot of fun. They wanted Michael Jackson‘s Smooth Criminal mashed up with 2Cellos‘ version of the same song, and it ...

Re: korg nanopad broken?

I had one that went wonky on me ... pad 6 would either double-trigger or wouldn't trigger at all; very erratic.
I contacted the place it was purchased to have it replaced (with restocking fee because of the time it took to break)

Re: Live 8 Transient Detection

you do realise you're zoomed in pretty far there? it's hardly an inaccurate detection. i think the markers are placed at a zero crossing nearest to the transient. not sure though. anyway, audible difference example mp3s or stfu :) Thanks for suggesting I get actual audio examples - I got so caught ...

Re: Live 8 Transient Detection

more on this also, what's the concensus is there a problem with transient detection or not who's hating it and who's loving it, can anyone confirm what the gents above have been going through? The methodology behind the process would be absolutely stunningly fantastic if the transients were placed ...

Live 8 Transient Detection

Am I being picky about the level of detail for warping? Was I setting transients incorrectly in prior versions? This transient placement seems early to me: http://jimbalaya.us/images/TransientEarly.png My method of warping this track (Jori Hulkkonen - All I See Is Shadows) is as follows: 1) zoom int...

Re: My RPM Challenge 2009 contribution: Chocolate Cake

That is an interesting selection tracks to include in a mix. It has some really nice moments and also some that I didn't like so much but overall I liked it. Where did you get your inspiration for this mix and where did you get the tracks? Very cool to see the screen shot of the Abelton project too...

My RPM Challenge 2009 contribution: Chocolate Cake

Hello everyone, I spent the month of February taking part in a thing called the RPM Challenge. It's a challenge to produce a record solely in the month of February. For some reason, the people running the challenge over at http://www.rpmchallenge.com decided that the shortest month of the year would...

Candy Cane Corkscrew

I'm taking part in the RPM Challenge again this year, and I've got a couple tracks uploaded for your ears... For this track, I severiously cut up a vocal by Camille. The bass line that pops up every now and again is actually her voice, pitched way down, as well ... I've found it's a bit difficult to...

Re: Jimbalaya Presents {Weekly Podcast}

Hey 8O ... I'm glad to hear you're still enjoying the selections! I've been tossing around the idea of changing things up a bit by releasing heavily mixed show rather than just selections ... I guess similar to my first two podcast releases. That type of mix would take me longer to put together, tho...

Re: RPM Challenge

I'm participating as well ... It's a sample-based project, and I'm building the full 35 minutes as one piece. I'll go back later and split the single 35 minute track into logical pieces. I'm about 20 minutes in now, so I still have quite a bit of work to do in a short amount of time. If you'd like t...

This is the eighth episode ... I've made it two months! It's entirely Reggae, Dub, and maybe some Dubstep this week. This one comes complete with jerk seasoning. (1:03:31) Episode 08: That's Rich 01 - Toots & The Maytals - Pomps And Pride 02 - Quantic - Westbound Train 03 - Roots Manuva - Highes...

King Megatrip - Cocaine Barbecue (Roofers vs. Records Vol.6)

Straight from the King's mouth: well, here we go again — a mix I’ve been promising a long long time now!! it’s another “for the kids at work” mix — straight out of the Van Bowlski Institute… in the tradition of the “Van Bowlski Brothers” and “Caveman on campus” — this one is straight up chaos and al...
