make sure that you have the input ( 2 knobs on the left) to least at 70% to keep the signal hot (You have a built in pre amp so should be able to record at a decent level though to hot and you’ll get distortion).


Recording that hot with a soundcard's built-in pre-amp is probably THE worst advice ...

Generally I use them as inserts, because one soaked instrument is enough for me.

Just keep in mind that working with insert reverbs also means limitation. I can't really see any advantages over the use of return tracks. Let's say you want to pan ...

Uh, you're right! These are exactly the mistakes that this widget filters out! Although in this case, it wouldn't have been that bad for the seller, since the essential word "UAD-1" was spelled correctly...

@Subfunk: SubQ was probably referring to the (announced) UAD-2 lappy card! Don't bother with the old one, you'll be much better off with a Magma Expresscard to PCI chassis and two UAD-1s! One UAD-1 simply doesn't cut it...

a uad 1 ultra pak just went by on ebay unnoticed. I had it on my watchlist but checked it 20 minutes too late. Arrrggg :? :x :evil: Could have bought it for 1 € !! (wheres the smiley with the tears in the eyes when you need it)

Ok, now it gets embarrassing for Robert: Even Wizooverb was already latency-free back then!!! :lol:

altiverb offers zero latency monitoring at a cost of up to 60% CPU on mono tracks according to Sound on Sound magazine. They were not able to run 2 instances of it in stereo without CPU meltdown ...

BTW: I just found out that Altiverb also offers zero-latency! Seems to be the standard for quite some time now... I haven't used convolution since my Wizooverb days and the latency back then was already minimal, so this doesn't really blow my socks off...

Umm, because I can't hear any latency while tracking? I haven't measured it, but this isn't anything new. Just look at the specs of the product and you'll see... There is a 1024 samples latency option for less CPU usage though...
